Three Or Four, Celtic Defence Is Still Poor. Player Ratings.

|

It’s not the actual happening but it’s that inevitability that the happening is going to happen is what annoys the most. Once you get over that annoyance then you prepare for it, brace yourself for that crushing blow, so when it happens you are numb and don’t really feel anything.

Last two home games have been like that from about 60 mins. Set plays? I accept we will lose goals from them. I don’t feel the need to “boo” or go off on one.

We have rubbish centre halves and always have had, apart from that time in the early 00’s when we had Bobo, Stan, Johan, Joos (before he got injured) and for a spell we saved Ramon Vega from his life as a John Travolta impersonator opening shopping centres in Devon.

We set up in a 3-5-2 beamed in from that period. A formation that suited the personnel like clown shoes suit a midget. It’s a formation that needs pace and width something that Charlie Mulgrew has never been blessed with. He spent the afternoon looking at the bench hoping they would notice he wanted off.

It’s also a formation that needs positional awareness not a centre halve like Hooiveld who seems to need a Sat Nav to get from his living room to his toilet. Rogne looks a worried man. It’s like he is just waiting for that industrial strength blue tack that is hold together his joints to come loose causing him to miss the next six months. Big Danny is now downgraded to just Danny. A spectacular fall from grace that would have drew applause from Glenn Loovens.

The main worry is that while individual errors are a factor it’s the unknown on how we will react to this poor run. I can’t help feel that only winning a game when we need to hold on will cure this affliction.

Though failure to hold on to a two goal lead against a bunch of railway sleepers that play hurl-ball doesn’t bode well for the future.

So, the rest of them.

Double F, a mute 3rd choice goalkeeper from Newcastle, 0. Cha, best of a bad back 4,  which is faint praise, 3. Danny,  it was good while it lasted, 0. Hooiveld, Sweden you say, 0. Rogne, remember Josh Thompson, 0. Mulgrew, a f*cking a lampost, 0.

Maloney, Where’s you head at?, 0. Ki, good goal and performance, 5. Ledley, new dad blues?, 2. McCourt, wonder goal, did nothing really, 2. Towell, did well for the second goal, enthusiastic, 2.

Murphy, Steptoe’s horse, 0. Hooper, only the lonely, 1. Stokes, spent 70 odd minutes laughing at Murphy. Imitation is a form of flattery you know, 1.

Who was your motm? Ok, who was less worse than the rest.

Just watched Man Yoo be done 4 nil by some Eastenders. Anyone one of the back 4 could have walked into our defence they were that shambolic.
