Bumble Bee On Leith: Video + MOTM.

|

That was the perfect tonic to Wednesday’s nights possession-fest.

A good American once commented on this blogs former life of: “Possession for possession sake“. Celtic’s version of it is: “Possession furfucks sake.” , which was our lot on Wednesday. Today was different. The first half saw us unable to muster any sort of notworthy possession but the second saw purposeful use of the ball.

Super Hooper made the difference just before half-time. He also made a difference to Stokes who was Steptoe’s Pony in his last outing and looked every inch of a Sunderland reserve who found his feet in the lower reaches of the SPHeLL. I thought those Gods Of Rash Predictions were laughing at me since a few months back I mention talismanic and Stokes in the same breath.

Both open play strikes reminded me of ‘vintage‘ Dutchmen. Bergkamp and Van Basten.  Biram Kayal was better than both of them though and Paddy never finished what would have been his sixth ninety minutes in a row. We can rest assured that those who question his fitness will use this as evidence.

Hibs? In deep brown stuff.

What a difference having Hoopy back makes.

Apart from his goal that broke the deadlock, I thought he brings out the best in Stokes.
He also gives the midfield a diffent set of options with his positioning and movement.

Howver, Kayal is the becoming the main man in the team. At last, a “real” fitba player in midfield!!! He is another one that brings out the best in the players round about him.

Confidence is still a bit fragile, though, even against crap teams. We need to start scoring early in games, cos the longer we don’t the worse it gets.

If we can get a wee bit of consistency over the next few games, build up the confidence, and if the sfa mibs start behaving themselves, we might have a happy end to this season yet 😮

I think Kayal’s performance showed up how poor Scott Broon was. MIB’s start behaving themselves…I crack the jokes here.

It’s no joke that it happens to be a major factor in the “happy end” we all want.

Re Scott Broon: I’m not his biggest fan but he will have his role to play in the tasty set of fixtures betwen now and end of Feb:

    22/01 SPL Aberdeen 15:00 H
    26/01 SPL Heart of Midlothian 19:45 H
    29/01 CIS Aberdeen 15:00 N
    01/02 SPL Aberdeen 19:45 A
    06/02 SC Rangers 12:15 A
    13/02 SPL Dundee Utd 12:00 A
    20/02 SPL Rangers 12:30 H
    27/02 SPL Motherwell 12:45 A

Those fixtures are termed ‘tasty’. Suited to Broonie but only if he plays in a midfield 3 or wide right.
