Transfer request sparks rush?

|

fly tippersSamaras to say sayonara? Loovens to leave? Juarez feeling home sick? Crosas close to going? O’Dea and Thompson to make moves permanent? Kapo to be offered deal extension?

Well with Jos already jumping out the danish back door on loan to FC Copenhagan, Morten Rasmussen wanting to stay in Germany with Mainz so far we can confirm we have weakened the depth for two positions in the squad and also that silly season in the transfer window is well, well, well underway.

If all the transfer  speculation and rumours regarding our first team squad became true we would have Lukas Zaluska playing in central defence and Dominic Cervi playing a striker role to cover our depleting squad.

Thankfully this has not been the case with hardly any confirmed leavers as of yet other than Jos’ loan move. I have to say I am more than happy with this so far, but it’s a unwary kind of happiness with the type of worried smile that a lonely child may smirk on their first day of high school to the other kids so they seem friendly and approachable.

This “rabbit in the headlights” feeling is brought upon by the fact we have been linked to some totally shocking players and also some decent ones. This feeling of the unknown comes naturally to us Celtic fans nowadays as from one day to the next we don’t have a f**k!ng clue as to what the next 24 hours will bring. If Jack Bauer was involved on a day to day basis he would have thrown in the towel by now due to stress and a rapid onset of worrying-wrinkly transfer window induced old age.

As the days roll by I sometimes find myself as a Celtic fan being more and more concerned about our lack of activity but then it evens itself out when a “carthorse” of a player is linked to us and then the feeling of “Oh f**k that” takes over the thought pattern and the concern for activity disappears like david blaine under a bed sheet waving his magic wand shouting abracadabra.

As transfers go we could also say Kelvin Wilson to Celtic is almost a done deal? Some tabloids say different and also that our prestigious attempt to latch onto Mr Erik Huseklepp failed miserably with some ‘wordly rags’ reporting that he wanted a big contract that Celtic would not pay. Other proposed links just got my blood boiling.

Who could be next

My first port of call is the once prolific Kevin Phillips. Celts across the social networks are shouting lines of “Its a f**king ploy by the Gers to make us look bad saying we want him when he’s just Millers replacement. We don’t want him at all”.

Our past record signing elderly english premiership players does not make us look good. Dion Dublin and Ian Wright to name a couple, who never really hit the top class form that they had in their earlier years. So why Kevin Phillips? because hes cheap and available? we need to build a team not make it a retirement home.

My view, he’s a dud, do not go near him and he has not a patch right now in 2011 on any of our current strikers.

Next ‘weapon of choice’ is the speculation surrounding Thierry Henry. He has been linked to everybody on loan including our closest rivals (Partick Thistle? 😀 ). He is a good player but anybody with a bit of Irishness about them possibly still holds a grudge against this handballing, cheating, charlatan. This move would be a pure loan. We would not have him for much time at all and with him being well into his 30s I cannot see him wanting to settle down after his loan move for a few more years on the sunny side of the Clyde.

My view, this is dead in the water, hopefully just out and out speculation that some fabricating journo-turd has spewed out onto paper and the Internet. Not one for the future, maybe a short term try-er and could score a couple of goals but do not be blinded by the lights he is a no go-er and we do not need this sort of a player at our club, plus we cannot be a dumping ground for everybodies old tat.

My mood started to change and I became one with my inner buddhist self when karma came into play when I read the news we could get Curtis Davies on loan. This is a very interesting move as this is the type of player we could capitalise on and push for title glory. I watched Davies play for West Brom and he is a very talented confident player and for a reasonably young player has great defensive positioning, the type of experienced positioning that peaking players and 30 odd year old centre backs have. Curtis has it.

He would offer great competition to Rogne, Majstorovic and the rest of our current crop of defensive players. He is available on loan and Villa gaffer Houllier is willing to let him go. My view, I hope we get him as he may come and love what Celtic is all about and stay on for a few more years sorting out our always questionable backline in the process.

Finally with Samaras’ future in the balance a striker with bags of talent and credibility has made himself available. He handed in a transfer request and I have been following his “tweets” to see what the “craic” really is.

His name Charlie Austin (Some football fans may say who I am aware he is not a household name…..yet!). The Swindon Town striker handed in a transfer request in the last 24 hours and he is one young talented striker that loves to score goals for fun whatever level he has played at. He is a big lad as well standing over 6 foot 2 inches tall and is the right frame and focus to be a hit at any club if he is given the chance.

This lad is a must buy for Celtic. I guarantee this lad will give us the something else we require. We took a punt on Gary Hooper and after what I saw against Hibs recently he is a bit special, so why not take a punt on Charlie Austin. He has the capabilities to be a hit in the SPL and with the right level of “blooding” into SPL fixtures he will become a liked player with the fans.

My view, get him signed Lenny now before someone else does as this lad is hot property.

The life stream of Celtic football in the SPL seems more and more like a storyline from a soap but for now the transfer wheel keeps rolling on. Who knows what the rest of the window could hold for us? We may not sign anybody and stick with the lads we have. Lenny may be comfortable with what he has in his hands if the right players are not available.

I leave you all with this question – What would you do bhoys if you where in Lennys shoes?

    Great photoshop.

The transfer window only hot’s up before it ‘slams shut’. Like you I wake up every morning hoping that I’m not screaming “What the fuck” at Newsnow.

Kevin Philips, oh dear. Curtis Davis is a player that has went for a lot of dosh but, again, just screams stop gap. He won’t want to hang around up here.

Terry Henry? Mair chance of Lenny Henry or Dawn French.

The boy Austin could be a gem but at this stage I reckon we won’t fork out the fee.

Hoovield, Samaras and Crosas if to leave will be no great loss.

At least Samaras gave us one last night of passion before succumbing to type and bone lazyitis .

You sound like you could be Charlie Austins agent! I’m gonna keep an eye on this boy and if he ends up being a fud i’ll be the first to remind you of your prediction….Best rumour around must be Charlie Adam to liverpool for an estimated £4m!! in a really funny, twisted sort of way i hope it happens and rises to double that figure just to stick it right up the huns.
