Lennon Looks To League And Not Cup?

|

I’m under no illusions what the remit was. I think we’ve improved a great deal since last season but we’ve won nothing yet. I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and really enjoying where the team’s going and I don’t want to upset the applecart really. I think, probably in my own mind, (the remit] is to win the league.”

That was our Ginger Guardiola yesterday when announcing Celtic are having a pre-season jolly to Dublin. That’s a good chance for our major shareholder to attend a game.

Is this the truth? Are the fans looking only at retaining the league as being successful or are they looking to win the lot? Is Lennon admitting that he is taking Sunday lightly?

Sunday seems to have been deemed the least important if there is such a thing against that mob. My thoughts this week were that if we were to choose to lose any of the up-coming games then this would be the one. As long as we win the next two.  It seems more important to put a noose round their necks in the league and we need this team to win a trophy for them to embrace what it feels like.

Then a reality hit. It was Diouf like wave. Losing, gives Smith a chance to take his bow and we would face glowing eulogies (sic) that would accompany that final week of the season. By the end of that week he would have been portrayed as a cross between Stein, Ferguson, Shankley and Mother Teresa (well, he did give Lee and Kyle a home).

That will still happen. But, I want it done to a backdrop of bleak despair.

The Ginger Guardiola has a gamble to take on who is fit and who isn’t. Whatever happens I fully expect Father Of The Year Mulgrew to continue at centre back whoever is fit. Why? Just cause he has been excellent for us. No other reason. Should there be another reason?

A win for us could see us own the Rowers from Kinning Park for the foreseeable future. That’s an opportunity too good to miss.
