The Good, The Bad And The Ugly About The Title Decider (sic)

|

The Good

I’m glad this is getting out the way early. This season has been unprecedented in a number of ways but having to play them 7 times is akin to a Conservative MP’s kinky sex game involving fruit and a Waitrose bag. It’s pleasurable but can also be very dangerous and sore.

This is a public service announcement for those who didn’t watch the Diddy Cup Final. Contrary to reports R*ngers didn’t play a hybrid of Brazil 70 and Holland 74 football. In fact, there wasn’t a fag paper between the sides and that was on a day we didn’t turn up.  There is nothing to fear.

The Bad

The aforementioned failing to turn up at the Diddy Cup Final and also being a slave to their long ball over the full backs tactics on that day. We need to combat that.

Joe Ledley being injured. Unlike all the Joe doubters out there this is a major blow to our game plan. This will see Ki come in to the reckoning. With R*ngers attacking our full backs with long, longing balls they will need protection. Do you want some pipe tobacco to chew on? How about Lizzy on the left handside of midfield with Mulgrew at left-back? Works for me.

Defeat. In the short-term that will be a major blow. It will see over the top plaudits undeservedly being bestowed on an auld goat who dresses like they are still rationing milk tokens.

The Ugly

The ugly has been seen in an extreme form this week. Hopefully this is some sort of a watershed. I’m sure the founding fathers of the Kinning Park rowing club would be turning in their graves, if they weren’t encrusted in the fetal position after howling at the moon before they died, at how some use the club they founded to peddle extremist views.

Us, well, I’m not one to indulge the whim of ‘whitabootery‘ and I know the difference between sectarian, political and just outright offensive but I must admit that I have never known The Boys Of The Old Brigade to play for Celtic, Sean South scoring the winner for us in a cup final or that the Broad Black Brimmer has ever been staple of our away kit.

Your thoughts of Mulgrew at left-back and Izzy moving forward is interesting. I’d rather this happened on the other flank though with Cha coming in and either him or Wilson playing on the right-hand side of midfield. Would beef it up and still have the attacking option.

Just on the songs, Sean South was on the first ever club released LP. I know because I have it…

Never thought about the other side of the pitch as I just think Broonie is a stick on for the right hand side. Plus I’m sure there is a lot of things Celtic have promoted during the years that are no longer relevant.

I have no beef with anyone singing those songs at the correct time and place. I just think the days are past at the football.

i dont think we can do anything but mulgrew and big maj at centre back, i agree with you that in the final celtic had an off day and still the game could have gone either way, our previous 3 glasgow derbys we were outstanding and controlled the games perfectly including the 2-2 cup game when we had 10 men for a large chunk of the game. i feel quite confidant, especially with the club as a whole behind mr lennon, but its a huge derby game and anything can happen. the 1st glasgow derby of the season we were outplayed but since then mr lennon has been doing very very well against walter myth. honest mistakes aside we should win and i fancy a 2-1 celtic victory.
    MON THE HOOPS!

We controlled those games with a solid midfield. That is needed again. They target our fullbacks and that needs combatted.

Mulgrew has been pretty rank at LB. I’d rather put him at LM but I see your point about having Izaguirre there. Tough decisions ! Have one myself..where to go and watch the game at 4:30 in the feckin morning ! I agree that we shouldn’t play with fear. We are far superior.

By the way, mind if I use the Lennon graphic ? Brilliant.

    Bursting for the game..

I`ll take the 0-0 result thank you very much. 15 points to play for, come on the Celts!

Agreed, I’ll take it. Not a “great save” by McGregor, just a chronic strike by that big galoot. His runs are great at drawing defenders out but his propensity to give up possession and his head-down and run approach, when a pass to a teammate is the better option, pisses me off. Stokes’ guile was missed and that was underscored by his second half appearance. Brucehillbhoy’s blog rings true. It’s there if you want it Celtic. Regardless, I think Lennon and his staff have pulled a blinder this season.

      Get it done.

I need to sleep on my thoughts regarding “that big galoot”. Hence to say at the moment I think he is a “big galoot”.
