Celtic multimedia mashup and transfer gossip

|

Its all done and dusted, everything in the bag and predominantly a trophy won (and not under the team bus, because that is the craze nowadays).

We have slipped and slided through a full season of brilliance in the transfer windows, sheer idiocy off the pitch, complete class on the pitch and a proven manager with a season under his belt to boot.

Over the Clyde we have had a departure as we all know, the archaeli of mordor (not taggart) has left the building and has now left the lunatics in charge of the asylum. This will surely be in our favour when the new season comes.

Upon this news of him leaving I have one last present for the manager we all loath so much: –

LEGNED

So the ‘legned’ finally packed up his troubles in his old kitbag and walked into the retirment home known as ‘punditry’.

In other news, and I know it is early so forgive me but, who will we be linked to this summer? I have found a few chaps which are free agents / out of contract that Lenny may call upon here is the list of these free and available happy chappys: –

David Vaughan – We have already been linked to this attacking midfielder come striker in the last transfer window and it is a high possibility that if Lenny is looking to strengthen these parts of  the team, it is more than likely Lenny may call on him again to see if a deal can be struck. That’s why I rate this as a high possibility free transfer.
Chances of signing him – 60 to 70% chance

Matthew Upson – Another great defender and would seal our defence up and offer great experience. He is another leader and is a Lennon type of player. He could offer us so much on the pitch and has the capabilities to influence others around him, its what we lack in certain areas when others are not available. Chances are EPL clubs will be sniffing after him so we may be down the list for him even if we go for him. Lenny should have a ‘ganders’ anyways and have a bash at signing him.
Chances of signing him – 30 to 50% chance

Michael Owen – The former England international has been round the block a few times now and even though he is available and can score goals when given the chances, he may not want a trip to the SPL. We have signed Dion Dublin and Ian Wright in the past who did a job but will Owen fancy a dabble in Dundee on a cold winters evening? I don’t thinks so.
Chances of signing him – 10 to 30% chance

Sebastian Larsson – Great technical midfielder with a wand of a boot. He has set pieces in his locker and does ghost forwards when needed. He also dons the number 7 jersey, Is there enough space in the history books for another Larsson? Outside chance we could get him possibly, but he may want a mid-tier EPL club to offer him something  before considering us.
Chances of signing him – 20 to 40% chance

Miroslav Klose – German internationalist striker has been out of sorts at his league club and wants a move away. He will most certainly be looking for one last pay day so chances are he will want champions league football and a hefty pay packet. He would look nice in the hoops and especially more scoring against the gers but it is highly unlikely that we could afford his pay packet.
Chances of signing him – 0 – 10% chance

Jay Bothroyd – Now this lad can play. I have watched his rise to the top closely even from his Serie A days. He has always been confident and has finally found his feet. Our links to Cardiff with the Ledley transfer and the fact Bellamy may give the lad good advice, gives heed that Celtic could be a very wise choice for Jay Bothroyd. He could fit into our attacking plans comfortably and would offer pace and power, plus a great alternative to turning to Sammy when we need ‘that something different’.
Chances of signing him – 50 to 80% chance

John Carew – Great big man striker, could capitalise on the SPL style and would reep the benefits of crosses from Maloney, Forrest, Izzy and the likes. He can stick the ball in the net and is not scared to put himself about. Lenny may look at him.
Chances of signing him – 40 to 60% chance

Now enough of that transfer mullarky. To lighten the mood I have found a great deal of celtic videos courtesy of a few celts spread across YouTube. Some of these videos you may have seen, some you may not. So sit back relax get comfy and enjoy these few videos which round off what a great season we have had –

I think the transfer window brings out some sort of madness in people. While I’m sure all above would bring something to the table, Owen to the treatment table, it’s what they are already packing per week that is the problem.

I was astounded of the forehead to read that Jay Boothroyd was ‘only’ (sic) on £7000 a week. Even more astounded that I started measuring his ability and availability on this fact.

My conclusion is I inexplicably want him as we can afford him.

    I’ve lost it.

well no harm to you but we were supposed to have them in the bag at rangers for the last 3 seasons. no they had our measure and with a new regime they will be stronger ,mark my words.as far as transfer targets go the ones that you have stated are im afraid to say not good enough. michael owen if thats the best you can come up with well well.

  • Sean says:

@jimmyf fair point, but on the contrary i said i know it may be a bit early for transfer talk thus leading to the thought “wait a minute this might not be final” and as for michael owen i said my predicted chances of signing him – 10 to
30% chance, so obviously not the best I could muster up.

I beg to differ some of the stated players would offer quality upson, bothroyd, seb larsson. If you watch football the same amount as I do, you recognise the good and the bad of the footballing world.

  • Kevin-Barry Causer says:

Matthew Upson would be a very welcome addition to the Celtic team, a classy defender but his wages I would guess are mind-bogglingly hefty, James Vaughan and Jay Bothroyd aren’t players that I’ve seen enough of to have an opinion on although this is early pre-season transfer talk and its always fun to read the “my next door neighbour’s sister’s friend’s cousin’s hairdresser knows the janitor’s wife at Lennoxtown and he said he saw Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy getting out of taxi last night with Peter Lawwell” speculation.

  • Wildrover says:

Whoever has been scouting in the past year has done a better job than I’ve seen in ages at Celtic.

Recent years have seen us latch on to the trend of trophy signings from down south and elsewhere. Jarosik, Juninho, Camara, Donati, Kamara, Braafhied, Ljungberg. Every single one of these guys was f*ckin useless ! (well, Kamara was half decent and Donati remembered how to play when he was being shopped for a transfer). Insanity. Some of our greatest have been relative unknowns or homegrown/local talent.

Ki, Kayal, Izaguirre, Hooper and even Ledley and Commons from the Championship are talents that “superior” teams have completely overlooked because their radar is firmly set on the next big overpriced signing. We have a manager that is a great motivator and someone that people want to play for. We don’t need any more shitty “big name” loan signings or overpaid EPL rejects from inflated markets that we’ve consistently failed to find value in.

I think Lenny, unlike Strachan, embraced the John Park effect. Scouting outwith your own borders. It seems to have worked.

    • lenny4myth2 says:

Stokes, Big Dan and Forster were good signings as well, unlucky not to have won a title this season, Big Dan is good but not fantastic and he needs to be fighting for a place against 2 quality centre backs next season, im really confident Lennon will bring in some quality and just fine tune the team, we have a really good foundation for a great, young and exciting Celtic team.

  • Wildrover says:

I’m sure Strachan ignored him just to a contrary smart arse. Tosser.
