It went in quick and the rebuttal was quicker and relatively painless.
Our manager admitted that he put a bid in for Fraser Forster and that Newcastle cast scorn on the offer and said: “Wae aye man he’s no fur sale.”
The gauge of opinion regarding Double F ranges between: “Naw, he’s p*sh.” to: “A decent big goalie wie a good future.” My opinion is that for a big man he jumps half his height, looks like a stoned giraffe who gets struck by sudden muteness and insecurity at the most inopportune moments. He’s a decent shot-stopper. Though, every goalie should have that in their defence when discussing their merits. It’s a Given (geddit?).
Talking about him, does this mean that Man Citee have decided to treat their players as assets rather than toys they are willing to loan to their less well heeled neighbours who they know might break and devalue them?
Only Citee, in some sort of innocent arrogance that comes with being so rich that the value of money means nothing, could think that if they sent out box fresh goods their value will be the same if the box comes back damaged.
This Forster bid knockback, surely a ‘blow‘ in tabloid speak, did hurt slightly. Why, I hear you ask as I have been quite non-plussed about his overall ability. Well, it has an air of a fourth or fifth option about it. It seems all very that our top targets have went and continuity was the next best option. I was all for that. That sounded not to bad.
Back to the drawing board.

I think Forster is decent but not worth more than 2 million, it’s a shame though that this offer for Forster obviously seems to signal Shay Given won’t be coming to Paradise.

He is a big flapper.
I think NFC are kidding themselves on.
He is very very everage, probably on par with Gould or Douglas.

Am not too bothered about not getting FF again as for Given too dear and would only be here on loan anyway why not try for Ciaran Westwood or Aranzubia these are two solid reliable stoppers and Westwood is one for the future as well as being already established for Republic Of Ireland.
So I would say all is not lost because Forster and Given aren’t coming.

Westwood signed for Sunderland yesterday. Interestingly enough the same day as we bid for Double F.
