The Insider Part 1 Celtic targets revealed

|

Sensational news has been leaked to me from a friend in the media and he has revealed targets that may be snapped up by the Celts.

We have all heard numerous rumours and the usual links so be it from the press but I have received a compiled list of players that could be coming to Celtic.

This inside knowledge can be revealed below, let me remind you none of the below is in my wording and is the exact information that was received.

This is the first part of target list that was relayed to me from my pal in the press: –

Kenyan, Victor Wanyama, Defensive Midfielder – Playing for Germinal Beerschot in Belgium. Will be considered if Kayal is sold.

Irish Andy Keogh, Striker – Playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Will add more depth to the squad if signed.

Irish, Leon Best, Striker – Playing for Newcastle United. His availability is being tracked by a number of clubs including Celtic.

Irish, Sean St Ledger, Defender – Currently on Preston North Ends books, but his agent is considering movement for him via a number of interested clubs including Celtic after PNE got relagated to league 1.

Russian, Alexei Eremenko, Attacking Midfielder – Currently onsidering offers from both Rangers and Celtic but Wigan Athletic are also interested.

Irish, Ryan Henderson, Midfielder – Currently playing for Donegal Celtic but has had Celtic watching him, unsure if any offers will be made, still under the eye.

Irish-libyan, Eamon Zayed, Striker – Has been watched after a string of recent goals for Derry City. 11 goals in 15 appearences has lit up the eyes of some scouts. He is currently the top scorer in the Airtricity League and at 27 is looking for one last shot at the bigtime.

Scottish, Craig Mackail-Smith, Striker – Prolific at a number of levels and is keen to test himself at the highest level, his agent has been contacted by a number of teams including Celtic. He has recently accepted an offer from a club but it is yet to be revealed.

Ivorian, Max Gradel, Winger – Has been a sensation for Leeds and has been watched by many clubs in the EPL and some on foreign shores. He has been a revelation scoring key goals in a very attacking set up. He has pace, trickery and an eye for goal. He is one of Leeds players that Celtic are looking at.

Scottish, Robert Snodgrass, Midfielder – Leeds have recently turned down an offer for him but he is definitely considering his options and as most critics believe he is a player who can play above championship level. He has said to close friends a move to Celtic would be a dream for him. Due to Leeds wanting top ‘dollar’ for his signature, Celtic may be priced out of a move for him.

Argentinian, Luciano Becchio, Striker – Has been linked to Celtic before and still considers a move to the SPL would be something he would consider greatly. Will only be signed if Samaras or Murphy are shipped out.

English, Lewis McGugan, Midfielder – Has been in terrific form and Celtic may raid Nottingham Forest again but Forest will be wanting alot of money for a player who is 22 and in a rich vein of form.

Korean, Park Chu-Young, Attacking Midfield / Striker – Currently of AS Monaco, but recently relegated to Ligue 2, he is considering his options. After missing out on a move to the EPL in the last transfer window, he is looking elsewhere. With the Korean contingent at Celtic, he has expressed an interest in a move to the UK.

Part 2 of this sensational list will be revealed in the next week so stay locked on and bookmark this site.

Zayed played for Drogheda Utd and I can tell you he wouldn’t get a game for any team in the SPL never mind Celtic.

  • ianin440 says:

I don`t see too many new players being signed but many of the rumours we had last summer turned out to be true. 🙂

  • Mark Jason67 says:

That (may) be snapped up by the Celts.

I’m sure if this is a real list of Celtic transfer targets then whoever leaked it & if linked with Celtic should be reprimanded, somehow I don’t think Neil Lennon would be happy knowing his transfer targets are being leaked like this & it says a lot about the person(s) who leaked it, Why ? Surely that info should be hush hush.

& Why would someone within the media not hold onto this info himself knowing he could use it himself to write his own article(s) during silly season when football news is at present scarce.

    Sceptical One. HH

    • lordofthewing says:

The blogger is passing this information on in good faith. Celtic have either made contact with these players or have watched these players.

In football circles i’m sure everyone knows when everyone else goes to the toilet.

Too many scouts, agents and cocks involved.

  • Feargal says:

None of the above targets are particularly inspiring hope this list is just press nonsense as if we’re looking to add 2 or 3 quality players to the squad we shouldn’t even be looking at some of those names mentioned. We do need some players, something that seems to be lost during all the recent Lenny hyperbole (no fault of his own) is that we lost the league last season and three times in a row now to a bankrupt awful huns team. Quality is needed,we need to improve and the board better back Neil with proper cash regardless of players offloaded.

    • lordofthewing says:

93 points says that this Huns team is not awful. They are damn ugly but not as awful as we all wish.

    • lenny4myth2 says:

Your right, no names jump off the page, but the thing is Lennon has proved he knows what he is doing and we are lucky to have a manager like that, someone who has picked unknowns for cheap who are doing fantasticly well for us.
Lennon is supposedly looking into a deal for Bellamy and im sure the board would trust Lennons judgement if he wanted them to dig deep financialy, Bellamy or Keane would be great for us and i think another centre back and a good winger is all we need, provided we keep the likes of Izzy, Kayal and Commons then im pretty confident we will do well.
Keane or Bellamy and i can’t see rangers getting close to us, well not close enough where “honest mistakes” would even be enough to help them.

      • lordofthewing says:

Bellamy spent most of his homecoming season this year with ice on his hammies and I just shake the feeling that Keane sees us a a pet hobby and has no real desire to move here.

  • Paul says:

Gradel was by far the best player on the pitch when I saw Leeds playing. I’d be happy with that.

  • lenny4myth2 says:

We need to get rid of a good few players, Rogne, Loovens, Sammy, Ljunberg, Juarez being the main ones, we dont need many signings, a striker another centre back and a winger, and obviously if Forster leaves a keeper.
Would like to see us get Shay Given and would love to see us nick Kyle Bartley for a season loan deal from under the buns noses! He looked good for them when he played. (i know every centre back rangers have ever had is made to look good by being free to kick, trip, tug and foul anything that moves whilst being exempt from punishment but i think he genuinely looked solid despite the usual)

    • lordofthewing says:

Kyle Bartley was the nearest thing to a human kilngon this side of The Wrath Of Khan.

      Behave. 🙂

  • Feargal says:

Agree with you lenny4myth2 in that we need to offload a good few players on fringes of squad as well as one or two who sometimes get a game. Also agree with you on the positions that need strengthened.Really hope that those areas are strengthened with quality players who will go straight into first team and relegate some of our current first teamers to the bench leaving it up to them to raise their game to get back into the team. Would like to see the fringe places in squad occupied by the likes of McGinn and McCourt go to our best young prospects, the likes of Twardzik,Keatings and hopefully at some stage Feruz. Will help them improve if we’ve real quality in first team in every area as this is the level they’ll have to aspire to in order to get a game or even a place on the bench.

  • Chris says:

Lenny4myth I’d let McCourt go too as he is a player that flatters to deceive, scores a couple of “wonder goals” a season against the likes of St. Mirren and is referred to as a hero but he hasn’t produced in any big game and doesn’t seem to understand the significance or have the ability of passing. I’d put Rogne on a season long loan as he is a huge prospect, to give him more first team experience, him and Maestro in defence were excellent until he got injured and didn’t get back in the team as Mulgrew did such a good job Max Gradel is a top class player but will cost around £5 million so can’t see that happening and Park Chu Young though highly rated on computer games I’ve never really heard anything great apart from that the list is rather uninspiring and get shot of Darren O’Dea no a Celtic player

    • lordofthewing says:

The Derry Pele is Celtic in a slightly out of shape, rough and scruffy nutshell.

Rogne is held together with sellotape and bluetack. He lives in a box marked: “Prospect”.

  • Sean says:

I would love to see at least 3 or 4 youth players given chances.

Maybe 40 mins in a cup match or 30 mins in a league match here and there where we are a couple of goals up. I’ve heard Islam Feruz may get a look in this year, hopefully Lenny may look to what he has in youth development before giving out a pension paycheck to any ageing EPL players we have been linked to.

Personally Chu Young, Snodgrass, Gradel would all be great signings, but what about the Keeper position? Part 2 has a couple of gks on it but what do you guys think? I would love Forster to be signed but I cant see Pardew giving us any favours. What keepers are available though is the question? Shay and who else?

    • lordofthewing says:

Islam Feruz may get game time but it wont be for us.

Double F can stay in Newcastle. He was like that giraffe from Madagascar except more stoned and wet.

Given seems to be the blinding light that means that all others are not considered. He is like a brain freeze when mentioned.

      Whatever happened to Gordon Marshall?

  • Chris says:

I like Forster too he needs to learn to command his box a bit better and improve his decision making but that will come with games and experience, we may not go for him even though Pardick slammed the quality of the SPL he may use Forster as a make weight to try and sign Izzy, Given probably everyone’s first choice however Artur Boruc is available, dunno how I’d feel on his return though and I was never a fan of Westwood, I pray we don’t try and raid West Ham particularly Rob Green who I feel is overrated and quite crap

  • Steve says:

What’s with the fascination with Leeds United players??? Do you honestly think that Snodgrass, Gradel and Becchio would leave to go Celtic when they could be playing in the PL 2012/13 with Leeds if not before???????

    • Brian says:

Snodgrass is a well known Celtic fan, I think he would be the most likely of the three to sign and any time I’ve seen him he looked half decent. If anything though, I dont think we need another midfielder unless we sell a right few of the 14 we have listed on the Club website. We need to keep the obvious ones in Commons, Kayal, ledley, Ki, Brown, the other 9 with the exception of Twardzik x 2, Conroy and Forest are probably not going anywhere so that leaves 5 of Maloney, McGinn, McCourt, Llungberg and Juarez.

      Don’t fancy Neil’s job there!

    • lordofthewing says:

      Yes.

Leeds are club rich for pickings after failure to get promoted. Becchio was interested before.

  • lordofthewing says:

The players – known and unknown – on the list and level they are operating at don’t come as a surprise at all.

The number also being considered for what might be only a few squad spaces is also no surprise.

Our scouting seems to look under many stones and in many rock pools.

  • chiefinkorea says:

Interesting list in that it empahsizes the market we’re shopping in. Some good players but none of the names strike me as players who’d necessarily walk straight into the team.

Best players on the list for me are Snodgrass and McGugan but they’d cost a fair bit and are midfielders where we are well covered at the moment.

Last season Lenny was starting from sctratch with the squad, now the difficulty is getting decent players in and not upsetting the balance of a group that seem pretty tight.

    • lordofthewing says:

The interviews with Wilson and Matthews seem to suggest that both have a decent mindset and attitude. Character is just as improtant as ability. Feel, that Lenny knows this.

  • scotland-celtic-ireland says:

i would love to have snodgrass at celtic! he and forrest would be a great future for celtic and scotland. HAIL HAIL

  • I don't believe you says:

Funny how most, if not all, have been linked in the last 6 months through the media.

Something tells me your mole is trying to gain a sense of importance that his everyday life doesn’t provide.

You’d do well to be a bit more sceptical in future.

    • lordofthewing says:

      embrace a sense of adventure

      • sheabhoy says:

we need to sign a top class striker and centre half or rangers will win another title ,I just dont think we have enough height or strenght upfront, stokes is just not good enough, pissed off with this typical biscuit tin mentality and the fact that the league starts next week, lenny u need to demand movement on the transfer front or your job will be gone. just like a lot of fans.
