5 Facts, Findings & Thoughts About: Mariners, Damari Rejected & Bellamy Balls

1) It took so long for the signing of Kelvin Wilson to go through that his Man Of The Match award from the official site was expected and could have almost been written into his contract.

2) The game was marred by 11 arrests after numerous failed pitch invasions during the half time interval. Is this some Aussie extreme sport or just drunken over exuberance? Whatever it was it was embarrassment and should probably make Celtic consider these trips more carefully.

If our games become high risk then sponsors and teams will be less likely to invite us to play as the costs involved in the Policing could make our fee less attainable. Remember, we are only there for the money. Let’s call a summit. Paul Hogan is available for a photocall with Alex Slamond.

3) Transfer madness over the weekend saw Omer Damari get his move to Hapoel Tel Aviv. This comes after we rejected his clubs valuation and terms and conditions. Plus the dealings with a wankstain of a chairman with all the manners of an STD didn’t help matters.

The word rejected has been the cause of much mirth recently after it was spun as being a dignified response to a clubs valuation, which is bollocks. Off course.

Though the club involved did reject using the same logic as we did (though not the same factors that we did).

It’s part of the game. Clubs reject other clubs valuations of players everyday when the transfer window is open. You also have to deal with hyperbolic uber cockified chairmen or, worse still, Arry Redknapp, who like the sound of their own voice that much that they listen to their own interviews on their Ipods. I have no problem with this. At least we have the money to pay our fees up front unlike some others.

4) Since we have rejected Damari and looks like we will be rejected by Boothroyd (how can we compete with West Brom and such?) the attention, seemingly, turns to Huskelpp (problem high wages, dodgy agent) and the summer favourite, like sunburn, cider and pishy shorts, Craig Bellamy.

Please forgive me if I don’t believe that we are top of Bellamy’s Bucket List of things to do before his knees give way. There is around £60,000 notes a week and the fact that we are not close to Wales for me to consider first. Again, I feel the age old: “We done our best but….lines that we became accustomed to last season will come out again.

I question also whether the conditions that would be attached and circus that would surround such a box office signing would be the best for the club.

5) Are David Haye and Shaun Maloney related? They both seem to use lame injuries as excuses for performance issues.

Having listened to the Mariners game with Tony Hamilton for 90 minutes I thought Kelvin Wilson did in fact have a good game, but yes even if he had played a poor match he still would’ve been MOTM.
The Aussie supporters showed the good and the bad during the match. A continuous noice throughout and a wonderful display for Neil Lennon and then the drunken fools. That’s football however.
Damari, a player who looks good on Youtube, but so does my gran, but was never worth the money that was asked. Not a huge loss and I would rather have that money spent on goalkeeper.
Bellamy, a player who wants more money than we can spend. Huseklepp, seems to be like Fortune, that alone speaks for itself. Bothroyd, if we can compete for his wages. Yes please.
Maloney has become a bit of a joke now. It’s unfortunate but true.

One thing about Huseklepp that I can’t get over is that Bari are reportedly paying him 26,000 notes a week. I think that is an agent with loose lips speak and fairytale spreading.

I honestly trust Lennon, i think Bothroyd will probably turn us down but i know there is no other manager who could have made him come to us if Lennon couldn’t, i also think if Lennon was really convinced by a player that he was worth pushing the boat out for financially he would be backed by the board.
Would love Bellamy to sign, he would make a big impact, he would thrive off Hooper, Commons and Kayal, comes down to money at the end of the day though.

The Lennon and ‘big club’ factor has probably seen players come from the championship to us for less money than elsewhere.

So if you want to “come out the closet” on a Celtic website cause your own don’t accept you feel free.

    Hi
Not sure what the deal with running on the pitch is. We were at Brisbane a couple of years ago and the same thing happened. Its a rare thing to see here as it went out with the red ball at one day cricket games. It was getting ridiculous on Saturday night thats for sure.
No doubt it will effect security at games for the rest of the trip, which is annoying as it may stop the fans bringing a display into the ground at melbourne which they have been working on for weeks.

  • Wildrover says:

Please, no more sticky plaster loan signings. I don’t question Bellamy’s potential impact, he’s proven that already, but it stifles the developing talent we already have and unbalances the squad. Temporary fix to a long term problem.

I don’t doubt his heart or commitment but he’s approaching past his best and injury prone. Anyway, unless Dermot decides to personally finance the wages it’s a moot point. I don’t see us blowing 2 mill+ of our budget on that, but I could be wrong if other deals don’t work out and Lennon decides to throw a Hail Mary as the window closes.

On Maloney, last year of his contract, so probably his last season, to prove consistent fitness and form. I hope he does, he’s a brilliant player if used correctly.

    • lordofthewing says:

Correct, sign him we are looking again at this point next season. Also taking hand outs from DD shouldn’t be on the agenda.

  • Stubhoy123 says:

Hello fellow tims just a wee point or two to wave me finger at… First lets deal with the Maloney factor: First class if fit but like the previous 2 seasons been unlucky with injuries so do or die season for him. Next Bellamy, can he really travel 400 odd miles there n back every week and still be 100% I don’t think so as for wages we have sold a couple porbs a few more on way before start of season plus the doh from shirt sales etc would probs cover them… Finally to the hun that crept on here with his dire mouth and pishy comments away n crawl back down yer hole in castle mordor ye stupid wee orc ye…. Hail Hail

I was at the mariners game in sydney
I just wish the celtic team had as much passion as its support I thought it was a poor performance by celtic in front of a Celtic Support that really deserved more, as for the numptys who tried to invade the pitch It seemed like a game between them and he stewards who were i think all professional rugby players judging by the ways they caught everyone by flying tackles and then gave each other the high fives as the police escorted them off A truly stunning performance by the stewards, pity I cant say the same for Celtic

  • JimBhoy says:

Bellamy injury prone too much baggage and a narky wee SOB, would deffo bring bad press to the club, would be like signing Ian Wright again. Maloney: We have had a good half a season from the guy, should never have been brought back once he moved for big wages. He has had his chance, see Simon Donnelly, Phil O’Donnell, Liam Miller etc, same boat. Boothroyd would be awesome but will get far more cash elsewhere. I think we will get a couple of players in but there are a few weeks to go. Personally I would make John O’Shea our top target and a decent keeper.

  • Gannonball says:

Bellamy managed 35 games for Cardiff last season, although Im sure he would have played through the pain barrier more with Cardiff than he would with any other. One of his knees are nackered yes but he is that good a player you can work round that-see Ledley King for instance.
A loan of him would be brilliant as I believe at 31 his blistering pace can not be around for much longer and his knee could cave any day but on his day hes untouchable, a permanent deal is out the question however for the reasons I have mentioned.
He also has the madness and tempo about him that brown has which the stats dont lie when you see how well they do in the team rather than outwith it, except for Bellamy hes got the skill to go with it.
