Coffee & Tv: Celtic Crumble To Shock Friendly Loss Against Wolves.

|

Or so, Twiiter would lead us to believe.

Friendlies are a necessary evil. Despite of what we think off our highly paid pampered athletes; like the digital portable in your Winnebago they sometimes need retuned so you can watch Street Cops on Pick Tv.

Last nights exercise did exactly that. We saw numerous fringe, rarely used and late comers to pre-season get run outs. It was even so important that we played 3 trialists and it was FREE.

In the live blog some comments were calling for a mass clear out of the dead wood. This cry has been heard and un-acted upon for years. Some will leave – for decent money – but others will remain being unused squad players. There is a reason they are dead wood.

Our performance was slated in some quarters whose brains can’t compute that the starting and finishing 11 will never together play again in their Celtic careers. It was all about the individuals who look capable of stepping up when needed.

Mick McCarthy was pleased with the result. I recognised most of their side, which points to the conclusion that this was their 1st team. Instead of some indulging in parochial cross-border xenophobic triumphalism they may should worry about their lot. Our first team would have battered them. I’m sure.

On the subject of the live blog. Despite technical issues meaning that the updates were as regular as a constipated puffin we are going to do it again. This time though, in the name of decency and sanity, if you want to add comments in the live blog format then we must check your papers.

It was as if every illiterate cave dweller in the world had descended on us. Moderating was impossible with the number of comments.

I recognised Fletcher and Hunt. That was about it. I couldn’t tell you Wolves first team, now or previously. Another overpriced Premiership team who shouldn’t be able to compete with us – and wouldn’t if it weren’t for Sky’s money.

But that’s a rant for another day.

I didn’t reconise the uglyness of them just I have heard the names being mentioned on MOTD…it was nearly their first team according to the Brum press.
