1) The reaction to this performance and result has been harsh to say the least. The belief that we have to play swashbuckling, free flowing, goal laden football and anything else is dull has to change.

We were comfortable against The Sheep. We were let down by individual buffoonery in the final third (more on that later). We keep on playing our football and never resorted in humping the long ball. Patience is a virtue that lends to our style.

Our goal was stylish.

The Sheep were always going to make it difficult as any team that was owned by their opponents last season would be. When we scored they didn’t muster another attack as their game plan was to contain not to win.

2) As the bench celebrated the winner, a forlorn figure was looking dumbfounded and shocked at the goal. Paddy McCourt was stripped and ready for action. His face told the story that he knew that he wasn’t going to see any game time after Stokesy intervention.

3) Further celebration shenanigans. Was Cool Hand Luka trying to create a bond between him and the support with his visually impressive run and celebration in front of the Celtic support? Has another Polish keeper been texting him tips?

4) I’m sure that wasn’t the only one that was calling for Commons to be hauled off for James Forrest during the game. Commons was a bed wetting nightmare as he wasted good positions and his final ball was not even near being found wanting but just atrocious.

He did though have the savvy and speed of thought of a North London looter to pick pocket failed R*nger Richard Foster then the perfect weighted pass to return the ball to Stokes. Shows, really what do we know.

But, in a time honoured rash prediction, I still think that Commons will have a difficult and disappointing season, when judged against the impact of the last.

5) The Huddle. Please stop. The more we do it the more of a cheap gimmick and plastic it becomes. Like wearing false tits or laughing at Michael McIntyre it’s mockable.

Commons will be just fine once put back on the left hand side of the pitch once Broony returns to the side

It sounds like he is injured not out of position.

He is better on the left, he might not have the same scoring record as last season but he will score plenty of goals IMO. He also sets up plenty. Great player, especially for the price we paid! Had an off game, still set up the goal, almost 2 goals and threatened throughout. I agree with everything else, and i gotta say i think Paddy should have been happier for the team, especially with it being late goal to seal 3 points, maybe im being harsh, he was obviously desperate to play but still.

        • I do think Paddy’s reaction was just an unfortunate quirk of fate that the camera focus on the bench in the aftermath of the goal and not straight after. I’m sure he was giving it some but soon realised that he wasn’t getting a appearance bonus.

          His disappointment is heart warming.

The only real problem is that when we need to adapt to different formats we haven’t got some of the players to adapt but players like Ki, Mulgrew and Matthews can and am fed up with the board being tight assed again.

As for the huddle gotta disagree its fantastic to watch the only thing I hate is copycat Man. City supporters thinking they own yeah you wish.

    • lordofthewing says:

Man Shitee is one of the reasons that we should stop it. They are making it common, not that special unifying bound that we created (or we stole from Brazil). 🙂

yeah true but for me was one of the greatest sights have seen at a football match in years just crying shame typical bullyboy English ruin things sooner FIFA sort out their monopoly on over spending in the transfer market the better.

        • It was a great sight but what made it so great was it was done at the correct time, a real seize the moment make a statement opportunity.

Doing it everytime we score dilutes it.

Leave it until we win the league.

my concern about Commons is that if he believes the hype about how great he was (last season) he might back off a bit and start showboating. he’s a really good player but just how good? time will tell. the same goes for Hooper… as for the huddle it’d have been a little less ‘copied’ if they faced the pitch, imagine how it’d feel if playing ‘them’ the Celts fans have back to play & they score? we’d never live it down… GET WELL SOON EMILIO

The one thing about Kris is that he did not hide, he kept showing for the ball and eventually it paid off.

I am old enough to remember Jinky and the off days he had, the days when he was so frustrating.

Kris has a long way to go to emulate him but like Jinky he can produce those moments of magic even on an off day. So lets not forget that it was his play that created our best chances on Sunday.

One of the first names on the team sheet for me.
