This game was so low key that there wasn’t even live Tv coverage, which is surprising for these glorified training sessions. We had to make do with audio commentary while eating Spangles and drinking American Cream Soda Stream.
It sounded like and the comments from those who saw the game back up this view that this was an experimental line up for us. It was a 451 being tried. In the first half Hooper was up top then in the second it was Samaras.
It wasn’t the right conditions for this experiment to be judged as the game sounded dire.
During the live blog it was noticeable that after R*ngers were put out the Big Cup and we went behind that questions were being asked about the merits of both clubs. I never understand this as the argument is always based of hypothetical synopsis of bar-room blawhards and Interweb warriors.
We only play English teams in friendlies, mostly. These games are not real. When we do face English teams in Europe it’s usually one of the top four in the EPL. The fans of teams who claim most loudly that we are sh*t can’t compete with them and they get Tv riches. So, how are we?
Maybe in the Europa League we might get Fulham or Stoke. That’s a real measure.
