No sooner had yesterday game finished the rumours started about the whereabouts of the manager after he sent Thommo out for the pressers. It was admitted that he was off on ‘club business’.
Seemingly he could be in Portugal. The smart money is on that he is watching Baba Diawara of Martimo who have admitted that they have done a deal with an un-named club.
The name is familiar as he was linked with us when Strachan was in charge of the club. Nothing happened at that point so he maybe good, which was something Strachan overlooked judging by some of his signings.
So did John Park find an old bit of paper underneath his desk or has an agent seen an opportunity to revive the deal? Who knows but it’s all underwhelming, which is the market that we are in, and last minute with the musk of Old Spice and desperation.
Here’s a 14min Yous Tube. He seems good in the air, which is something.

I know a YouTube video can make anyone look like the next Lionel Messi, but judging by what’s seen here, Baba has a number of positives going for him….
1) His real first name is Papa. Can you imagine the permarage reaction from Ipox if songs of praise for “El Papa” are heard from the terracing?
2) Believe it or not, his feet actually leave the ground when he goes “up” for a header, AND he can even direct it on-target. (This might improve our record of 5 goals from 247 corners.)
2) He can pick out a FORWARD pass. (Forward pass???….Whassat???)
3) He can shoot from outside the 6-yard box AND keep it low and on-target (which is an almost forgotten skill in our team.)
4) He seems difficult to knock off the ball (which will prove a challenge to the SPL cluggers.)
5) He seems to know where the goal is, and has a very clear idea as to why it’s there.
Now if only he had dreadlocks, like that other guy who used to play striker for us….
