5 Facts, Findings And Thoughts About The Booing Of Samaras And A Forgettable Win.

1) I fully understand that we are a professional football club and not a drop in centre for those that need to be loved and I have already came out and questioned the value of the Greek last week.

While I give everyone the right to freedom of expression I don’t understand the idiots who feel that the art of booing during an important league game after our manager – whom seems in the eyes of some to be above criticism – deems the player important enough to come on to help us ‘grind out’ a result is the right course of action.

2) Did we really pay £2.2m for Mohammed Bangura? Has anyone seen any sign of the receipt and read the returns policy? It’s early days but I have yet to see any early promise that justifies the colourful boots and hairstyle.

3) Talking off a drop in centre fir those that need to be loved, the sight of Dan putting his arm around Glenda then ruffling his hair like a Dad would do to a child after the child has just been told his dog is dead doesn’t exactly inspire you with confidence.

The question is now who plays with Mulgrew at CB on Thursday?

4) This was as dark a performance not seen since Strachanism was taking it’s last breaths in the East End. The two goals were of a quality that the game didn’t deserve. The Gaffer used the word ‘grind’ post match. I don’t like grinding.

5) Apart from a 6 – 0 thrashing we handed out to Inversenkie last season in the Care In The Community Cup our games against them are usually devoid of the level of performance we are capable off. Why is this? Are they the Kryptonite to our Superman? I’m sure I’m not the only one wishing them a happy relegation.

Was very disappointed with the reaction to Samaras coming on. I’m not his biggest fan, and I agree that folk are entitled to their opinions, but booing your own player onto the park is not on. I’m sure that gave the team the lift they were needing as we struggled past Caley.

On Bangura, he had a couple of runs down either wing and at the full backs on Saturday. Looked like he has a bit of pace, but he really hasn’t had a chance yet.

  • Emrod says:

You are questioning Bangura already?? What kind of Celtic supporter are you supposed to be? He has played about an hour of football and not had a start as yet FFS!

When he has come on he has looked lively and at the very least needs at least until the end of the year before anyone can make any kind of informed judgement.

The guy has a more than decent scoring record in the Swedish league and also at international level with Sierra Leone who are one of the lesser African nations.

Asking if ayone “has kept the receipt” makes yuo sound like the same knuckle draggers who call up Super Scoreboard!

    Get a grip.

    • lordofthewing says:

I was asking if anyone had seen the receipt as I think the reported fee is a bit on the high side and I also make clear that it’s early days for him.

The returns policy bit, is what passess as humour on this site.

Was at the game on saturday & although i noticed a few grumblings frm the crowd re the greek tragedy i wasnt aware of any booing as such. Also think its pretty hard to judge bangura until he has had at least 2 full games under his belt (it would have taken messi to lighten up that game on saturday!). ICT took 5 pts off us last year and we all know what happened as a result…I’ll take a grinding victory against them every time.

  • Krys says:

1 – I’m all for people voicing their opinion, but when you’re booing even before he’s had a chance to f**k up this week then you’re a moron undeserving of an opinion.

2 – good, I thought I was the only one who had yet to see anything. Henrik should stick to playing rather than scouting from what I can see.

3 – If Mulgrew’s at CB, who’s at LB? I’m playing a back three of Mulgrew, Rogne and Wilson/Matthews. Pick one, I’m not sure it matters.

4 – I like grinding, but not at the football. *wink*

5 – Even that 6-0 thrashing had some scary moments early on.

  • Korben Dallas says:

1)I go to watch football to support our team and I am bewildered why any football supporter would want to Boo a player/team? It is easy to support a team that is winning but the hard fact is that when some people are called upon to do the job that they went along to do they fail miserably. The time that a player/team needs your support is when things are not going well and what do these people do? Boo of course. Freedom of speech gone mad!

2)Disagree here, the lad has for me shown some talent but like all players that come to the club they will need time to bed in. The games that he has played in, he has not had great service. The Bhoy will come good (I hope)

3)Will be interesting to see who Neil selects.

    4)I prefer ‘grinding’ to ‘losing’

5)Wouldn’t wish that on anyone! We need teams that will test us. Having a league full of non-kryptonite teams would not be good! I see us more like the ‘Green Hornet’ than ‘Superman’ LOL

    Guys,

I like this website and never really found much cause to post because I agree with most things that are written.

However, I find the hypocrisy a bit rich. You make a valid point about people booing Sammy before he’s even touched the ball but then slate a player who’s not even started a game for us yet.

I actually thought he looked pretty sharp when he came and showed a few nice touches without really threatening.

Jees, think back to BBJ. He didn’t score a goal for weeks after he joined and look how he turned out.

Give Mo a break, and give him time.

    • lordofthewing says:

Thanks for the kind words. On Mo, I do make clear that it’s early days in his career.

Hope to see you posting again.

  • pinkmartin says:

No problem, keep up the good work!!

  • Captn Obvious says:

Anyone booing Samaras before Dan is a fool, he may have missed a penalty last season, but who through away games we were easily winning?

DAN- Kilmarnock 2-2 at home we could have been down to 8 men and won that game if gifts were not involved. We are stuck with a crap centre back until January.

    • lordofthewing says:

I don’t agree with booing any player. Not disagree with your thoughts about Dan though, him and Mulgrew will be the favoured two from now on in,….

  • rw67 says:

You are trying to distance yourself from your comments on Bangura. Just as we should never boo one of our own players we should also not be negative about a player that none of us have even seen playing a full 90 minutes yet, What you have written is not neutral, its from the land of the idiot radio phone in. He’s moved country, knows nobody and has been living in a hotel. Give the Bhoy a chance, don’t doubt him first.

    • lordofthewing says:

Eh, I’m not trying to distance myself from my comments what I was pointing out is that I have stated in pixels that it’s early days for the lad…..

I’m glad what I have written is not neutral as this would mean that this is all fake and doesn’t exist. Off course I’m doubting his ability, I would rather have reservations to be begin with then be pleasantly surprised, than have blind faith that he is the next BIG thing and believe the spoon feed PR we saw when he signed.

I have seen too many ready made heroes recently come and go without even breaking sweat our looking up to the task. We have spent some decent money on these and they have failed.

Our last trip to Sweden saw us get a CB who looked like he had never seen a football before in his life. So forgive me for pondering why we spent £2.2m on a guy from the same league and wanting to see some bang for my buck. Eventually.

      • rw67 says:

No one is making him a hero, just step back and judge him when he’s had a chance, stop behaving like a tabloid and starting to plant the seeds of doubt without reason.
Our last trip to Sweden was actually to Athens for the Swedish CB,

  • super fun fighting love says:

    i don’t like your articles.

  • rw67 says:

You are correct re Jos, but I thought we were discussing our current management team not the TM era, hence Dan from Athens reference. Don’t think its fair to pair Lenny’s judgement with the failed Mowbury one. Anyway, we’ll agree to disagree, but tabloid talk does no team any favours. Let’s give Bangura a chance and assess him later.

  • Jim Fallon says:

Mark Wilson @ C.B. at the very least he will compete.

  • Andy says:

Anyone who boos a player wearing the Green and White hoops is not a supporter of our club. These morons should be ejected from the stadium immediately, we could do without them.

As for tomorrow night, let’s get Celtic Park rocking like it was on Saturday, and I reckon we can sneak a result.

  • gzm89 says:

Supporters who boo their own teams players are pathetic. It’s only going to have a detrimental effect on the player and the team. Maybe they should boo the manager instead since he’s the one who picks the team.

  • petescully says:

The thing about being a celtic supporter is
we know our football,Samprass should not be playing for celtic, big dan, and glen lovenns, should not be playing for celtic, the celtic support year in year out pour 10s of millions, into the club.
we want success, and we wont get it with the above
three, and thats why we boo.
do i belive my own eyes, yes i do, my judgement
yes i do, these guys prove me right week after week
    im sorry to say
