Some bad but not unsurprising news if true.

Seemingly, our tallisman and best centre forward has made it be known that he see’s himself back playing in England next season, if not sooner.

Our CEO’s comment that we had ‘knocked back’ a bid for Hooper may not have been in so much jest. Two clubs registered an interest. Newcastle and Leicester. Both were givin’ no encouragement from the player or the club.

The players position has changed with both clubs being made aware that he is looking to return south.

With Kayal and Ki already what is called in the game “working their ticket”, our manager ending up with a centre forward he had no interest in signing and our poor form this news only adds to the slightly mild autumn of discontent.

this is our problem, too many players not wanting to play for us.
what i would do is sell them all in january. u seen what happens when you play uninterested players, shocking performance. your better not playing them and playing the players who do want to play for us.

Let him go, no heart, Stokesy a far better player anyway!! Kayal about to sign an extension, heard from a reliable source, Willie Haughey going to buy out Desmond next year!! 50mil, they say he’s just made his first billion this year. A real Celtic man, hopefully this will happen! KTF

If Newcastle or QPR are willing to pay 4/5 million for him, bye, bye. Hardly irreplaceable. Same with Ki and Kayal, they appear uninterested therefore let them go.
We sit 10 points behind Rangers and these guys are doing precious little to stop the slide. Kayal was a disgrace on Saturday. 4/5 million for each of them. 12-15 million in total. That is more than fair. Then they can disappear to become squad players at the relegation threatened clubs of the EPL or the top half of the Championship.
People are sick and tired of these guys believing they are much better than they really are. Of course they are only playing for Celtic because they want to play in England. I have no problem with that. But tell me what have they won, the Scottish Cup, so what. As soon as they are required to show a bit of fight they disappear. Who cares. Gutless, spineless.

totally agree – we must rid ourselves of players who do not wish to play for our club- I’d rather have half decent Scottish players or at least a sprinkling ofthem- with a bit of character and who know the history of our club get rid of Ki – ok when we’re on top, kayal injury prone and arrogant,Samaras,DM and Hooper – why are we wasting time on Rogne when he only plays occasionally? Too many foreign players and cultures – How on earth do they communicate on the park – do they understand what “Ma Ba/your ba means?”

What a shame you chaps are so, so easily lead by the rags in this sad wee country of ours. Izziguire was leaving; he’s signed a new deal. Forrest was Liverpool bound;he’s signed a new deal, Kyal and Brown the same…they’re both days away from signing new deals. Hooper wants to leave? Give us a break. The guy, right now, couldn’t get a game back at Scunthorpe. Ki may well move on eventually, but thats the name of the game with these lads from further afield.
Seriously, things are tough for our Club right now. Don’t print nonsense that’s just regurgetated from a rag that can’t fill its pages.

Hooper may or may not want to leave, but this is a poor article regardless.

Unfortunately there are a great many fans out there who will believe whatever they read and will turn against players, perhaps even hounding them out.

No-one is asking bloggers to dawn blinkers or become board apologists, but could you possibly qualify your stories in future?

Anyone can circulate stories they heard in the pub.

Can you really blame some of these players? So much confusion around the club and no positive direction from a manager who benches them if they fail to perform..in his eyes…and who is also talking openly about looking for other players all the time. Not exactly the security that anyone would want in their job. We keep blaming the board but the Lennon is his worst enemy.

    [Reply]

    bobocop Reply:

You could definitely blame the players. They may not be world superstars but they get paid massive wages to do a job that most of us would love. Imagine getting say £10,000 a week to play football, a sponsored car and the adulation of tens of thousands, then some thing happens that they don’t like and it’s out with the dummy. If they had any professional pride they would be bursting a gut to turn things round. These types of prima donnas think they are bigger than the clubs they play for and turn their backs on the fans when the going gets tough.

No one is saying that this is 100% true. But who cares if it is!!!
The three of them can go if the price is right. That is why a group of 22 year olds were signed in the first place to sell them on the minute a decent offer comes in. These guys want to play in England. How do we know? Because every ambitious footballer in the world wants to play in England or Spain. Or at a push Germany or Italy. The only reason an Englishman, an Arab-Israeli and a Korean sign for Celtic from smaller clubs is to get noticed. If they have been noticed let the three of them go. 15 million the three and a limosine to drive them to Blackburn/Bolton/Leicester thrown in.

if anyone doesn’t want to wear the hoops then they shouldn’t play. I am NOT saying just let them go when it suits them, wait till we get what we want. There’s lots of talent out there & we should be producing more of our OWN TALENT like Forrest. No doubt most players see Celtic as a stepping stone to bigger things but while there in our pool we expect nothing but their best. The biggest problem is when our really good players like McGeady & Naka move on they don’t seem to be replaced. who knows if it’s the board or the managers decision to buy headless chickens rather than skillfull players.
