The Jam Farts away. It’s rapidly coming up there as a red letter date on the calender to match our trips to Poundland. Swinecastle will see security usually only reserved for USA Presidents and Kim Khardashian as we return there.

So, what is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of our trip there?

The Good

After a European slog returning to a play a game at a ground where the homes fans idea of culture is reading the deals of the day at Greggs is better than a home tie against supposed cannon fodder.

The players and management will know they will need to be up for it, which usually is a good thing.

The Bad

I haven’t been as staunch with my defence of our gaffer this season and something is worrying me. He is tinkering like that next door neighbour who has an old Cortina in his back garden. There is nothing more transparent than a man struggling with his own skin if he is having chameleon tendencies.

I’m beginning to wonder if last season is taking it’s toll now.

Injuries will hamper his selection (the loss of Joe Ledley is a blow, it cost us the league last season) but this is not a game for curveballs. I have little knowledge of the inner workings of the game but I’m sure that playing your best available players in their best available positions has a high percentage rate of success.

Take heed Mr Lennon.

The Ugly

If Hearts didn’t exist it would take some sicko to even try to invent them. They have a chairmen who justified his Gary Glitter record collection earlier this season with his handling of the Thompson affair. The hypocrisy of the support who love singing about child molesting was not lost on me.

They have about a new manager in Paulo Sergio who replaced Greyfriars Jobby. I actually have some sympathy for The Jobby. He has been replaced with a man whose name and look would make him a certainty to have a long career in the Cruise Ship entertainment game or be attending Loius Walsh mansion as an over 35 crooner specialising in Neil Diamond in this weeks c*nt factor.

In ‘Just Say No’ Ian Black they have a player who is vying to win the most scrotum like player award with Keith Lasley and Steven Naebalance. If you were put in a room with gun and a one bullet then what would be the outcome?

Add to that Swinecastle looks like a pink bus shelter that you buy drugs in.

To paraphrase Lloyd:”Who would support a team like this?” John Wilson, that’s who. There have been Travellers sites that have been closed down for less.

Losing Ledley never lost Celtic the league last season, unless of course they were a one man team. Celtic fans crowed all season long about their strength in depth over Rangers. Given his form when he returned Rangers could argue they would have won the league by a greater margin if Jelavic had not missed half the season. Or Miller had stayed.

    • lordofthewing says:

Losing Ledley unbalanced the midfield in the run in and caused The Gaffer to make the mistake of two wingers at Inversenkie. So it did cost us the league.

    • bhoylondon67 says:

Or been battling relegation if they paid their taxes and couldn’t afford Jelavic or Miller to begin with.

    • bhoylondon67 says:

Erm….there’s only one club and it’s supporters who believe the tax man is out to get them, their logic is solid though, i mean what’s the tax man playing at by wanting taxes that are owed to be paid ffs.

  • Kevin-Barry Causer says:

The absence of Joe Ledley and the composure he brings to the midfield will be noticeable, this will be another war of attrition although we completely dominated the Mini-Orcs on our last visit to Subbuteocastle. Ideally I’d like to see us field the same team (sans Mr Ledley of course) that performed so well on Thursday night however I expect more team selection hi-jinks and tactical jigger-pokery x x

    • lordofthewing says:

Do you think Thursday night’s Random Number Generated Team Selection had Subbuteocastle in mind?

  • Kevin-Barry Causer says:

I strongly believe Lenny is treating the Europa Dope Cup as a bonus(or six glamour friendlies as has been previously mentioned on this website) with the priority being regaining the league title x x

  • tim says:

we will never win the league while lennons here,he said at last seasons last game that this was the beginning, but already we are 10 points behind,,,said it last season and say it again, lenny must go

    • lordofthewing says:

Have you got another record? Can we hear it?

      • tim says:

but its the truth and i think we know it, breaks my heart thinking of them being ahead of us,everytime he gets a bad result its someones fault, covering his job,,guy said to me about sammy playing and he will get lenny the sack, lenny picked him so if anyone will get lenny the sack its himself,,,and i hope it comes soon before the league is lost,,,again

        • lordofthewing says:

I said in this preview that I’m worried about Lennon. We seem to have stood still or even regressed. He seems unsure.

Rookie manager going through 2nd season syndrome after his first season was unprecedented.

  • bhoylondon67 says:

Lennon deserves at least until the end of the season.

    • lordofthewing says:

I can’t shake the feeling that if we ride this out we are on the verge of something. 6 players under 23 the other night. They and a 2nd year manager will make mistakes.

We haven’t started well. That’s all.

  • john says:

I fear Lennon has lost a significant section of the support. Therefore, he is only one game away from a real crisis. This is unfortunate. He has been unlucky with injuries but his team selections have been baffling.
I hate to say it, and am prepared for many to disagree, but Rangers look stronger than they did last year and it will take injuries to key players at key times for Celtic to have any chance of the league this season. Celtic have gone backwards and the confidence is shot. Again there were many errors made during the summer and weaknesses were not addressed. This will cost Celtic the title and the immediate future will be dire.

    • lordofthewing says:

I think it is more that fickle ones who like the instatianous taste of pod noodle success and are deep rooted in Poindland FC are shit brigade that don’t consider those facts that you state.

They dont need to be stronger they just need to keep to the same level which they have.

Once the confidence returns to the manager watch us go.

    • lordofthewing says:

Plus I fully believe Fat Sally is an imposter who will be found out.

      • bobocop says:

You have no evidential basis for that. It is merely wishful thinking. I expressed doubts about McCoist last season but am prepared to wait and see. so far so good, without being spectacular.
Lennon, on the other hand, has had about 60 games in charge and can no longer be called a rookie. The fans adulation was not based on results but on a combination of events off the pitch and Lennons shrewd manipulation of the circumstances. Max Clfford couldn’t have done any better. To quote Gary Moore, it’s “dark days in paradise”

        • bhoylondon67 says:

And the fact Lennon exposed Walter as a Myth when he spanked him in head to heads helped, as did gaining the highest points total since O’Neill was in charge, FPLG spent 7 years under Myth, i wonder where we would be if Lennon spent 7 years under O’Neill? The young rookie Mccoist, 10 years older than Lennon and 5 years longer in management, don’t believe everything you are TOLD TO by the Daily Record bobocop.

        • bhoylondon67 says:

Maribor, Malmo and Falkirk are evidence enough i would think.

  • Stubhoy123 says:

Well for one I think Rankers fc are living on the edge scraping results have seen last 2 games and both of them were rotten they have no ideas going forward and slack defending by opposing teams has given them the breaks to get the goals i.e. hibs game yesterday they were carved open 3 or 4 times and hibs squandered the chances to go in front they had lots of posession but lacked creativity in front of goal and a suspect cross not dealt with was mishit by your havin a lafferty who again was booked so he will be missing after next game (usually booked every game he plays) and jellyvic seems to be getting found out as he seems to be losing confidence with every game = Rankers will start drawing and losing games +++ Remenber we are still in all competitions where as Rankers are not… Bring that wee bit of confidence football back and we will hit the ground running we could have got it back via Thursday but were unlucky HAIL HAIL

    • bobocop says:

Stubhoy, you have just lost all credibility. Rangers were far better than Hibs and should have scored more. Whilst I’m still not happy with the performance level they keep scoring goals and make loads of chances in every game. It could easily have been six against Celtic although, as everyone knows, it was only five. Hibs had two good scoring opportunities so on balance the Teddy Bears were worth their win.
The same old tripe you are spouting was trotted out last season. It obviously makes you happy to say these things but that doesn’t make them right.

      • bhoylondon67 says:

Izzy is a huge miss, not to mention the other dozen Celtic players in and out of the team through injuries. Celtic have been exceptionally unlucky on that front thus far, but injuries really are a swings and roundabouts situation and Rangers will have their problems with them too, unlike the human influenced “honest mistakes” swings and roundabouts, which only ever “swing” and NEVER go roundabout, injuries are out of peoples control.

  • johnd says:

Well, what can you say. Another abject performance by a team with no direction and no leadership. I said before the match that Neil Lennon is one match away from a real crisis. Well here it is. I did not think it would come so soon. To me he has the appearance of a dead man walking. He does not know what to do and this is obvious from the performance of the team. It ended today in Mowbray-esque fashion. Big Dan up front and three lost souls trying desperately not to lose a third. I know it is only October and there are 29 games left but Celtic need to win at least 24 of these. Does anyone see that happening? 24 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats will give us 93 points I think. This would equal Rangers points total of last season. Remaining unbeaten in 27 out of 29 games with FF in goal, Big Dan at the back? I wouldn’t put a farthing on it?
Stu you mentioned Rangers losing confidence. Celtic just gave them a bigger boost than they could ever have given themselves. And have you ever seen a team more lacking in confidence and fight than Celtic. When we go a goal behind our plyers want to hide or just get themselves sent off. And we have over 7 months of it left. Dear oh Dear.

    • bobocop says:

Can you believe Lennons after match comments. Whilst I’m obviously well pleased and biased, I try to be objective. Celtic were awful today. They made one good chance and fluffed it. Hearts showed more appetite for the game and a better work ethic. They were better organised although both goals, whilst well taken, owed more to Celtics bad defence.
To hear Lennon you’d think Celtic were the better team and made plenty of chances. He must have the same script writer as Stubhoy

      • lordofthewing says:

We were poor but should have been ahead at half time and the Jam Farts goal was against the run of play. Slighty. After the goal we were woeful, again, circumstances dictated this.

        • bobocop says:

Other than the missed header, which should have been a goal, I can’t recall any clear, should score chances. There was some good lead up play but I think they all ended up as shots from near the edge of the box or acute angles, and usually through a ruck of players. I’m not saying Hearts were more skillful but when push came to shove they were more up for the fight. I think Hearts also missed a couple of really good chances early in the game.
It will be interesting to see how the ‘gers go when they play there.

          • lordofthewing says:

They had 2 chances in the first half, both from set plays. We produced 4 saves from there keeper in the same period. We created twice as many chances as them and had 10 corners.

Stats lie but in a game as poor we did more until they scored.
