The sound of wailing that you here is not most of the country returning to work after the annual pig out but of the news that Beram Kayal could be out for a minimum of 4 months after it was discovered that he needed surgery.

The manager said:

“He had a second scan and he needs surgery.

We don’t know what the outcome of the surgery will be. There’s a possibility that he could be out for four months.

It was a good challenge between two committed players. The way his ankle has turned, he has got a bit of cartilage floating in there that might need attaching back in and there is ligament damage as well.

“It could be a minimum four months or we could maybe get better news. The result is he needs surgery, we are just not sure on the extent of it yet.”

There has already been some discussion about this here.

While our manager doesn’t blame the challenge, I blame the FACT that Elbows was allowed to be on the park to make the challenege. Off course we would want any club to have the right to appeal but surely in this case – and in others that will follow – where the offense is so blatant and the player guilty then a fast-tracking laughing out of court is in order.

Fat Sally’s desperation to let Elbows play then coupled with his recalling Clubfoot summed up his tactics and approach. Though they have many thugs who could have made the challenge they needed Elbows as they knew he would make a risky challenge and put himself about.

It is job done. Kayal out for a lengthy time and Elbows suspended for two games he is injured for anyway.

Having watched the challenge a few times now it looks to me like the damage was done while stepping on the ball so makes no difference who went in for the challenge. Feel sorry for Kayal looks like the third season in a row he’ll miss the run in

The challenge or the severity of the challenge is not the point. It’s that they wanted him on the park and he was allowed on the park.

I disagree with Neil on this I think it was no way near a 50-50 challenge and Healys assault on Yough Forest was a red card.
Strangely it comes as no surprise to me that W Collum was in charge of this game.
Just another reason I would love to see the Shame gone forever.
