THANK YOU AND GOODBYE

fansWe at The Celtic Blog are saddened to announce that we are resigning from the site as of today.

Since taking over from Kevin in late 2012, we had taken pride in maintaining the site and appreciated being given a respectable platform for our opinions, no matter how unpopular some of them may have been.
The site had many talked about articles on News Now and this was mostly down to the diverse and non-generic topics posed by our regular and guest contributors.
Despite this, we came in for some criticism, mostly because we happened to be upset after sub-par performances from the team or question the actions of the manager and most recently, daring to publish someone’s thoughts on our fans conduct on Twitter, which weren’t the view of The Blog as we mentioned on the disclaimer of the article, but regardless, this went right over many peoples heads.
However, recently this criticism has got worse, and recent events have lead the editors to realise that it’s not worth getting worked up about something as meaningless in the grand scheme of things as football is. It’s only a game, and not worth getting personal about.
Tommy Burns daughter, Jenna, approved and thanked us for publishing the article about her late father, and this meant the world to our contributor Paul, and ourselves.
This was the last positive word said about The Blog. There’s worse ways to bow out.
On behalf of all the editors at the site – Thank you for reading The Celtic Blog, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Hail Hail.

First Fergie and now this. It’s been a dark week for football 🙁

I caught the tale end of this last night on twitter. It was a shocking attack on freedom of expression and having an alternative view.

This blog prided itself on being alternative. Some claim to be but this was AN ALTERNATIVE!

But nobodies livelyhood or personal saftey should be put at risk.

Good luck with whatever you plan to do next and also if Paul wants a platform to put up the rest of the TB stuff tell him to contact me on twitter.

    Hail Hail

    Kevin

  • Neil says:

Celtic fans have always prided themselves in welcoming everyone from different back grounds, races and creeds.

It is sad however that a few could not digest someone elses opinion!particularly one of their own. Our greatest manager was not a left footer but who cared or cares??

He was one of us and I can remember him wading into the support in the 70’s as he was none too please about the damaging songs being sung durning the match.

Sad to see you go but good luck and God Bless

    KTF

oh the nemesis of it all.

    LOL

  • GWG says:

It’s always a sad day when “any” Celtic site closes considering the decades we as Celtic Supporters had to swallow the lies and vile that were produced on a daily basis from the MSM
Now, in this modern day we at last have the power to fight back and expose the untruths and ridicule we have suffered throughout the decades at the hands of a truly bigoted establishment that is Scottish Football.
Sites such as this are a essential in our quest for justice and fair play, we should not give up the “Right” to reply so easily because of internal discord, most football forums / blogs have this problem but that’s what it’s all about
“Free Speech” and the right to defend our principles and beliefs.
We must continue to defend our club through this new media and never return to the days of accepting whatever the corrupt media says about us.
I wish all you guys well and hope you return to carry on the fight for truth and justice

    • baxterboy says:

      @gwg

ok, lets just say for the sake of argument that the illusion of decades of lies and vile from MSM is real.
now tell me, how does it compare to the S&M abuse that innocent boys had to go through at the celtic boys club?

your club is in a different league, china! and i’m not talking about the 3rd division!

… and how come the ‘truly bigoted establishment of scottish football’ did not remove titles from celtic, as happened to penn state, for 25 five years of covering up sexual abuse?
i’ll tell you why – because the’truly bigoted establishment of scottish football’ let them away with it, didn’t they!

      lol

  • Tweet Afton says:

Tried to be too smart for its own good sometimes, we have enough of the MSM winding up Celtic and their fans without having to take the same shit from a blog. The likes of Comic Snob and some eejit called Hutcheson did nothing for this blog.

Blogs relating to Celtic are ten a penny, many times on here the objective was to vilify a section of support in the hope that the majority would take your side and thus you could sit and gloat.

Alas it seems to have backfired. Nothing to see here, move on.

  • Dandoyle says:

The last post by tweet afton is representative of those who will broach no criticism of the Celtic support .no matter what they sing or what they do we are to support them and not disagree with those who may be embarrassing the club we love, well I won’t be doing that,I’ll miss the blog and I will continue to argue against the moronic element of our support, sad to see the blog close,it will be missed

  • Wildrover says:

Unfortunately, alternative views are not welcomed by the “you’re not a true Celtic fan if you dont love the Green Brigade” section of the support. It makes it increasingly difficult to listen to some of the podcasts too. I’ve stopped getting into online discussions because the bile and constantly being called a Rangers fan is not worth it.

Anyway, sorry to hear this. Best of luck.

    • rodgernotroger says:

Too true, unfortunately- its a sad indictment of some of our fans when they cannot accept even a reasonable level of criticism. But that’s life- you get wallopers everywhere ( cue the “yae canni say rat aboot Celtic fans” brigade)If a guys a balloon he’s a balloon whether or not he’s a Celtic, Sevco or a Xanadu fan ( cue the “get back tae ri Bearsden site site ya hun). Give everyone respect if they deserve it and avoid them if they don’t.

    • baxterboy says:

      ya hun!

  • TimmyAlloy says:

The general ‘intolerance’, recently, over the last 10years or so, among the Celtic Fans has increased, i think, quite significantly. Its rather worrying to be honest. Perhaps this is down to the various & many outlets we have, especially online.
Myself, i have been sworn at, physically threatened & even spat at within Celtic Park for daring to disagree, voice an opinion and/or criticise.
Its just not the Celtic way as previously stated.

  • Pipster1977 says:

    Good riddance. Gbnl

    • baxterboy says:

…kick someone when they are down, eh!..you should be ashamed of yourself!

you’ll be eating your words in a few weeks though… when the celtic blog returns after administration as a newco – Pacific Shelf 595 Ltd.
      lol
now i know some of you out there are panicking but no worries your paedophile history and support of ira terrorist remains intact.

      lol

      • NoPretender! says:

You’re no better than the Jimmy Savilles of this world!

“For years, MI5 had been aware of a homosexual vice ring operating within the Kincora Boys Home in East Belfast, which was run by William McGrath, a notorious homosexual….

“McGrath… was employed by MI5 since the mid 1960s.

“Amongst various other Loyalist members of the homosexual ring were John McKeague, who ran the Loyalist paramilitary organisation, the Red Hand Commandos, which was involved in many sectarian killings…

“So, MI5 allowed the ill-treatment and sexual abuse of residents at the Kincora Boys Home to continue”…

The role of MI5 sponsored boys homes/abuse circles in Kincora, Northern Ireland, Dunblane, Scotland and probably Cardiff mirrors on a smaller scale the systematic role that State- sponsored child abuse has played in the centres of power in the US and Brussels.

. “Scallywag Magazine alleged that MI5 used to take foreign diplomats to the North Wales homes, give them boys to ‘play’ with, secretly filmed them as they buggered, abused and tortured boys then kept the tapes as evidence.

Over a dozen victims who complained of abuse by the paedophile ring ‘have met suspicious deaths’.”

If only you Hun Degenerates would pay more attention to your own History & your own (filthy) Club then maybe you wouldn’t be looking at the Prospect Administration part deux (d’uh to you)…

I really am curious to discover how A Zombie can rise up out of the shell of a Zombie?

Goodbye Sevco & the Gollums of Govan!

        • baxterboy says:

the point, which you have obviously missed, concerns the cover up of sexual abuse by the celtic football club, a crime which they have yet to be punished for – as penn state have.

now you list alleged acts by organizations like M15 et al now, jimmy, how are these acts connected to Rangers?
was there any members of M15 or john mckeague committed these alleged acts concurrently coaching the a Rangers boys club?
          right, they’re not!
therefore your comments are quite redundant since they have absolutely nothing to do with Rangers fc.

so if we can get back to the issue – why haven’t titles been stripped from celtic for their complicity in paedophelia?

simples! – they remain unaccountable because of their power in the sfa and the scottish legal system.

Sad to see any Celtic site go…
    Good luck.

  • Nasalsinatra says:

Sorry to see you go. It is a sad reflection on the Celtic society that no criticism of Celtic Football Club or their fans is to be tolerated. So much for the claim of being a club that is ‘open’ to all. The people who now brook no criticism are the very people who were instrumental in getting rid of the Kellys, Grants and Whites 20 years ago, which everyone will agree was for the good of Celtic. However, just as in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, it seems that the ‘good guys’ are just as bad.

I’m not in the habit of reading your blog but I sympathise with you. I got pelters for allegedly wearing an item which some people found “offensive”

To the guys that run the site, I’d like to say that politicians would tell you that being attacked from both sides is a sign that your doing something right. Good luck for the future.

For the Celtic fans that can’t handle debate or anyone not toeing their version of the party line, I’d like to say look how well that attitude has worked out for the Orcs.

Trusting anyone without debate or question and bullying others into agreeing with your views is never a good thing. It’s a good way to destroy your club- as we’ve seen in Govan. And it’s not the Celtic way.

  • Puskas says:

Brousing through the posts a few so despicable I don’t need to consider a reply. However I shall add some words to Wildrovers post .

Oh! how truthful as a Celt his words are.
I am a true Celtic fan for going on 68 years . Thankfully the man upstairs has been kind to me and led me down the path as a Celt…
Sadly Wildrover speaks or prints commonsence regards the GB… A group who do my club no favours whatsoever. Indeed no different in outlook from THEM.. Thick as mince with macaroni swollen throw their brain cells.
Stein is mentioned and I remember the incident well… Big Jock in my opinion would never have been involved with the decision to have a group like the GB all gathered in the one section of PARADISE.. I now believe the Celtic Board realise how big an error having a group led by donkeys causing at times mayhem and embarrassment to our wonderful support
Anyone travel public transport ? Disgraceful conduct whether by bus or train etc.

I throughout my life first game 1947 carried by my father I have seen many injustices towards us for less than the conduct shown by the GB.

The quicker legislation is strenghtened and used evenly towards all groups wherever they come from the better for decency throughout the game we love..

Well said Wildrover… Sad when certain idiots within the GB group don’t realise their as bad as others at another club I have always loathed. Maybe just maybe extinct shortly and debate whoever they are need not take place. Now that would be nice NO THEM

    Hail Hail Celtic..

The war is over please please back the attrition on any football pitch hopefully our team show against opponents .

Worked in Scotland for 7yrs, the old Rangers were champions every season I worked there. It was their 9iar period.
When I moved back to Dublin, it was hard to keep up with CFC news, unless you wanted to buy the Daily Record or the Celtic view, both were full of pish.
Thankfully the internet age has made sites like this accessible. Really enjoyed reading the blogs and comments on here, so thanks and good luck for the future.
    2 down 8 to go.
