John GuidettiRonny Deila has announced that he has started the process of trying to sigh John Guidetti on a permanent deal. Great news for supporters who are looking for more quality to come into paradise, but before we get over excited, the gaffer has to go to war with the board.

I would love nothing more than to see Guidetti in the hoops beyond this season but I think the board will let us down again and stick to their recent penny pinching strategy. Seven players were brought into Celtic Park over the summer, but only £2.3m was spent, hardly a statement of intent if you ask me.

Guidetti is on great scoring form and now looks to be enjoying forging a partnership with Stefan Scepovic – if the last two games are anything to go by. He seems to be enjoying life in Glasgow and has taken to the fans as much as we have taken to him, it would be the ideal singing that we have wanted for so long.

For the people truly in charge, though the issue would be how cheaply we could get his signature. John is actually into the last year of his Manchester City contract so in theory, there would be no transfer fee, which Peter Lawwell and his chums seem to be great lovers of. It’s time the fans were rewarded with good quality singings on the park and players who are tried and tested.

John could be forgiven for wanting to try his chances in the Premier League and I believe he can certainly make it down south, However, if the Swedish striker is interested in staying on a permanent contract, then the board should pull out all the stops to keep him, even if it does cost a million or two more than the club are normally prepared to pay. It would be logical to break the bank to sign him on a permanent deal as there is money to be made from selling him on and we all know how much the board loves to do that.

So come on Celtic, let’s make Guidetti a Bhoy permanently!

Do you think we John Guidetti will be at Celtic Park after this season?

Signing him we can afford, paying his wages is what we cannot… he most likely would have to take a massive pay cut to play for us…

A lot of money would be required without a doubt, understandably,if we could get him on a free then do you think the club should make the wage structure a little more flexible?

  • ewanbhoy says:

On rare occasion, Dermot Desmond has funded the odd players wages that are too high for Celtic personally.
Maybe if we ask him nicely he might do the same for Guidetti.

Like I said in the article, I think it’s about time the fans were given a signing we wanted and one that will do the business instead of someone who we haven’t a Scooby about and just comes in and flops. I would be interested to know if Guidetti would take a pay cut if he is serious about winning a quadruple in the hoops. Something tells me it’s not going to happen this season.

He’s only on 10K/week at Man City at the moment. Surely he won’t require a pay cut???
