Sevco dropped two valuable points today as Alloa and Mike Mulraney celebrated a fine result at home that fully vindicated their decision to reduce the size of the pitch.

Sevco might have had most of the possession, but they needed a late goal to get their point.

Alloa were the subject of much media frustration, and the anger of Sevco boss Mark Warburton, earlier in the week, culminating in Mulraney’s wonderful interview with STV where, amongst other things, he dropped hints about wanting to see Financial Fair Play, reminded the hacks that Rangers had once reduced the size of their pitch and even offered Warburton the chance to “play the match in five a side goals” if only the rules had allowed it!

The club’s decision has been vindicated by today’s result, and the pressure on Mark Warburton grows as he heads into a vital, must-win, Scottish Cup replay against Kilmarnock.

Today Warburton’s side stumbled badly.

Don’t let anyone kid you; Alloa are bottom of the table and the Ibrox club has the second biggest wage bill in the country. I wasn’t impressed by Celtic’s performance against the part timers from East Kilbride last week, but we won that match by two goals.

Sevco’s failure to win today should trouble everyone at the club.

Warburton has yet to prove himself at Ibrox.

I am under no illusions about the media putting this guy under pressure; that absolutely will not happen … but that pressure is growing nonetheless.

He’s failed to win his last two matches, which would constitute a crisis at Celtic Park.

Hibs are playing Livingston right now, and if they manage to win Sevco’s league lead is cut to just six points.

If Sevco don’t manage to beat Kilmarnock on Tuesday, if they crash out of the Scottish Cup as they’ve already crashed out of the League Cup, will we see broken badges on the back pages? Probably not, but I expect their supporters to start asking if Warburton has the talent to take the team forward.

After all, Sevco are allegedly vying for European football eventually.

What’s Waburton’s experience on that stage?

Where is his managerial pedigree?

Where is his record of winning things?

How come the media never asks questions like this?

Oh wait … they do.

Just not at Ibrox.

Uhuh, I think you see where I’m coming from, right?
