After my article last night on how the Sevco fans are discussing boycotting all the away grounds in the SPL, I was amazed at the response I got from Celtic supporters who honestly hope they do just that. Starting with Celtic Park.

There’s no appetite amongst our fans for seeing these people back at Parkhead.

It’s really that simple.

Most of the people I spoke to, or got messages from, yesterday were unequivocal on that.

If Sevco fans want to boycott, they have our support.

Amazingly, it wasn’t just Celtic fans who felt this way; over an array of social media, and with a bulging inbox, I got messages from St Johnstone fans, Hearts fans, Aberdeen fans and Motherwell fans almost all issuing the same “stay away” message.

Many even gave reason for feeling this way, and they are a litany of those which I heard from the supporters of our own club; they are sick to death of random acts of violence, the destruction of stadium property, sectarian signing and a host of other offences.

Indeed, a “history of the journey” that’s taken Sevco from the Third Division to the brink of the SPL would have to acknowledge that it’s been a series of offensive acts one after the other. On their very first weekend their live match had viewers treated to the kind of disgusting singing we thought had been outlawed in the sport. It has popped up, with depressing frequency, on numerous occasions since. These fans might not be following Rangers anymore, but they ported the songbook over whole and that’s not a positive thing.

Scottish football fans are sick of the whining of this mob.

These “threats” are the latest in a long line of them, and people are no longer impressed.

In fact, there’s a general feeling out there that if clubs took a hard line with Sevco and actually told their fans they weren’t welcome unless they could get their behaviour in order that more than enough home supporters would buy tickets to more than make up for their absence.

Many fans don’t want to give them the choice of a boycott. An overwhelming number would like to see them banned from Celtic Park entirely.

SPL rules dictate that the away support is entitled to an allocation.

We’ve seen clubs limit that to a few thousand though, and there’s no reason clubs couldn’t do that to the Ibrox side, along with insisting on strict controls over who gets the tickets.

That way, if there’s trouble, the culprits can be identified easily, and banned from further games.

The less of them in top flight grounds the better.

Scottish football is sick and tired of these fans and their shrieking sense of entitlement.

If they want to boycott, so be it.

They’ll not be missed in Scotland’s top flight grounds.

Let’s face it, they haven’t been up until now.
