In Spite Of The Facts Being Available, The Daily Record Continues To Push The Simunovic Lie

I posted earlier about the lie which The Daily Record was pushing earlier, that Jozo Simunovic had failed a medical in Turin.

Tonight, the Record hack who posted the original rumour is STILL pushing this outright falsehood, claiming that “the European media” is saying the same.

Their headline is shocking.

Simunovic himself says the claims are “invented.”

The Record continues trying to defend its indefensible position.

Aside from a handful of outlets who get their information the same way Cooney, the writer of this story and the original, and others at his rag do – from the internet – no credible media outlet anywhere is reporting this damaging claim, but every single time a story like this appears it gets this absolute guff circulating all over again.

This is important stuff; I cannot state it enough times.

These kind of rumours badly impact on players’ careers.

The recklessness of the initial report is one thing, but Torino has said this is untrue, Celtic has said this in untrue, the player himself appeared on Sky Sports News today and said that it is untrue. How much more confirmation of that does it take?

I can accept that sometimes journalists make mistakes; I’ve made more than a few myself, as everyone who does this kind of thing has.

But to continue pushing a story that has been exposed as a transparent fiction is not making a mistake.

It starts to look like spite.

Like vindictiveness.

Like something done with the intent to hurt people.

I am not in favour of censorship, but the guy who’s pushing this stuff has crossed a line by continuing to push an untruth like this.

He ought to be banned from Celtic Park.
