Scott Sinclair will complete his move to Celtic this weekend, either tonight or more likely tomorrow. That will put him in line to play in Patrick Roberts slot at the weekend, after our winger got injured during the tie in midweek.

Sinclair is an excellent player who will add attacking flair to the side.

This is a guy the manager knows well and wants to have in his team. He will be the third major signing since Brendan came in and one of the most important we’ve made in many years because he’s a genuine top talent who can open up defences and give us that spark we’ve lacked at times.

After giving the board a hard time this week they get credit for getting this done. It’s taken time, more time than most of us were happy with, but we’d have been angrier had Brendan’s top target gone somewhere else whilst we dragged our feet. There has been other interest in the player, so that was always a worry, but he seems to have wanted to sign for Brendan and for Celtic and that is something we ought not to forget.

We ought not to forget that we already have a good squad of players and that Toure, Sinclair and Dembele add real class to it. This is a new signing policy we’ve got here, focussing on quality over quantity. I don’t expect panic buys or squad filler; when Brendan ID’s someone they’ll be for the first team and capable of enhancing our prospects.

This won’t have been a cheap deal, either in terms of the transfer fee or the wages. With us having guaranteed group stage football in Europe we’ve got real financial muscle to flex, and we’re going to do just that. These guys have been signed for that stage, but they will set us apart from every other club in our domestic league as well.

With this guy at the helm, these players on the books and others certainly on the way we’re going to be untouchable this season. There’s been a lot of talk lately about challengers; that’s all the other clubs are going to be, and they can fight amongst themselves.

We’re miles in front of all of them.
