Celtic’s Young Guns are about to take on Cowdenbeith in the Irn Bru Cup, and we’ve kept the same team as roundly defeated Annan in the last match.

It means we’ll be watching the talents of Aidan Nesbitt, Calvin Miller, Kristofer Ajer and Jack Aitchison for the second game in a row.

If you’re confused by that join the club! Because at least two of our players are out on loan … but this is the offical line-up from Celtic.

The Young Hoops have a very good chance tonight, and I reckon a reasonable chance of actually winning this competition outright. It won’t be easy – the challenge is a big one, with teams such as St Mirren, Hibs and Dundee Utd in the frame – but I think it’s doable. These are the bigger teams in the competition; other SPL sides have “Colt teams” but they are little for us to worry about when you consider that the kids got through last season without losing a league game.

At the very least, this tournament is a tremendous test of our young players and a great showcase for their future potential. There are some real talents in our Development Squad.

If you’ve got Premier Sports the game is on there. If not, well, I can’t advocate that you watch it somewhere else (hint hint) but there are plenty of places where you can find links to it if you have a mind to try, including some of the Celtic forums and Facebook pages. If you want to be good bhoys and ghirls you can follow it on Celtic’s twitter feed.

It should be a good game, and will put us all in the mood for tomorrow!

CELTIC: Doohan; Ralston, Wardrop, McCart, McIlduff; Thomson, Ajer; Nesbitt, Hendry, Miller; Aitchison

Subs: Hazard, Higgins, Hill, Murray, Crossan, Archibald, Johnston
