Brendan Rodgers … Brendan Rodgers ….

Just when you wondered whether this guy was simply venting the other day when he said he was still smarting over the fact Inverness drew with us last time around, he goes out and shows today that he was absolutely not kidding around. He wants revenge.

Today the formation is wonderful.

A 3-5-2 attacking system with Leigh and Moussa up front.

Man oh man, this is the one we’ve been waiting for.

And it gets better. Because this team also utilises Roberts and Sinclair both, with Armstrong and McGregor in the central areas with Brown. This is probably the most attack minded lineup we’ve seen at Celtic Park in many a long year and I cannot wait for kick off time.

What a man Brendan is. This guy is so determined that we should stamp our mark on Scottish football. Some folk might have worried that he was essentially playing the same system as Ronny week after week, but with the way he set it up it was clearly  working … but he’s not wedded to one system or one style. He changes games with tactical switches.

But today will be like watching a Celtic team of old, one of those under Martin O’Neill, famed for their swashbuckling attacking style. We have the players for it, no-one can doubt that. I truly didn’t expect to see Brendan try something like this so soon.

Will this be a one off? I very much doubt it. I expect it to overwhelm Inverness today; I simply cannot imagine how they will cope with such firepower. And if it does, I expect we’ll see this formation deployed again, and readied for next season in Europe too … in home games of course! It’s not a system I’d foresee us trying in Barcelona!

But for today, this is a thrilling development.

In Brendan we definitely trust!
