Today the hacks were sharpening their pencils for us. At 1-0 down. Although we’d been utterly dominant.

They were getting ready to start on us.

And then French Eddie scored the equaliser.

They clung to hope through the half-time break, as they drooled over the Ibrox club’s win over a hapless St Johnstone side.

Their hopes lasted just long enough for Eddie to put us in front.

From that point on, in spite of a gift of penalty to Kilmarnock from our friends at the SFA, there was no doubt as to what the outcome would be.

We were absolutely on top of this from start to finish. I heard someone on Radio Scotland say the game had been fairly even until half-time; what game was he watching? It wasn’t the same one as the rest of us. In the one I saw there was only one team in it.

Celtic were excellent today. The only disappointments were that we didn’t score more and that Forrest didn’t get at least one because his performance deserved it. French Eddie notched two and Christie got another; what a start to this season this boy has had.

We are now six wins for six games in the league; we’re not getting enough credit for that. It’s one of the best starts we’ve made in years. This is a strong, powerful, Celtic side that does not rattle under pressure. The media hoped we would today. They are not that lucky.

The penalty decision with five minutes to go is ridiculous.

The decision to book Lennon for it is laughable considering some of the touchline histrionics you see every week. It’s like the sight of our manager getting angry just trips circuits in some people’s heads and they react. It was a joke.

Lennon, it seems, is the only boss not allowed to complain.

Not that it matters.

Big Fraser saved it. His second save in a couple of weeks.

Bringing him home looks an inspired move.

The Celtic juggernaut is rolling forward, and there’s no sign of it stopping.

We’re on form. Eddie and others are on fire.

The one fly in the ointment is Jullien having to come off.

We’ll find out in due course if that’s a problem, but really … we’re playing so well at the moment these are minor irritants.

What a start to the season we’ve had.
