Rubber Seoul? Cha Du Ri For Celtic.

|

The Diary has Seoul but is not a soldier

We are in a state of confusion regarding the actual circumstances and state of play of “South Korea World Cup star Cha Du Ri” move to Celtic.

The club are either “close to signing“, “set to complete move” or “ready move” for the player while the player himself  “claims he is set” to move to the club. “I fly to Glasgow on Tuesday to complete the medical check, then I will have a two-week holiday in South Korea” said the mad monk, with a bit of a thin Ronaldo throw-in, looking South Korean.

If you meet him halfway up a Tibetan mountain and he offered you spiritual guidance you would think twice. He looks like he would skin you and boil your liver to feed to his yak’s. Which is a great look for a defender to have. I’m fed up with our signings looking like they are kind to animals. I want Broony to be saying in the tunnel before games “Have you meet the monk? He’s a mad bastard.”

So what’s the cut of the deal? On one hand we are told that “he has just a year of his contract to run and can be signed for a fee of around £500,ooo” while all the other hands say Cha “left the German club Freiburg under freedom of contract” he is “available on a free” and , eh, “is a free agent“.

Further confusion in the midst. Is he a right or left back? Well, we are informed that “full-back Cha Du-Ri” can “also operate at right back” while those who have done their homework state with some authority “South Korea right back Cha Du Ri.” We are even posed the question “over the future of Celtic right back Andreas Hinkel“. It’s not like Celtic to be looking to weaken the squad by selling a decent player, who has proved his worth in a problem area, to fund fanciful notions is it?

Of course not.

Then we have the subject of his name. Is it “Cha Du-Ri” or “Cha Doo-Ri“. The Diary feels like its in a spin wash with all this contradictory information that is being banded about. Give me some Persil and I will wash your whites. The Diary loves the later take on the name. It reminds The Diary of 1982 and Dexy Midnight Runners. Not many could pull off that cut of dungaree vagrant look. The Diary couldn’t either.

This move is “more intriguing” than the others we have been linked with and “Celtic sources have confirmed their pursuit of Cha” so this may be a goer. It raises many more questions though.

The Diary is really only a fan of The Killers first album. He thinks Brandon Flowers is a cock.

Only saw him play against Greece (at Right Back) and he did pretty well. I think he and Sol Campbell could really add to the Celtic back four. The way Sol played for Arsenal the second half of last season showed that he still has some decent football left. It was also evident that his experience elevated the play of the younger lads. I wish Arsenal would sign him for another year but would be glad to see him in green and white.

I remember him playing for South Korea but I was more impressed with hid mean look than being blinded by his skill.

I have feeling Sol will soon have blog of his own.

  • I think you are right.
