Coffee & Tv: The Riddle Of New Mirren Park?

Confession time.

I never saw all our win against St Midden yesterday. For once family came before Celtic. The family occasion involved a birthday celebration and a meal with not a 42 inch plasma with ESPN in sight. One family member had come prepared with an IPhone with a Sky Sports App and a full battery. Problem was he sat up the other end of the table.

Communication was me looking at him and him either looking as if he was entering the World Gurning Championship, trying to push out a very large $hit or sighing and tutting loudly while shaking his head. I had enough before dessert. I was going to hang over his shoulder for the remainder of the game, which was 3 mins plus stoppage time.

Watching on an IPhone is not great viewing. It was like watching lime pixels trying to get out the left hand side of the phone. It was only good for getting an idea of what area of the park the game was taking place not actually was happening.

So, as I was just saying that it was progress, playing badly and not getting beat, I saw a pixelated blob in lime green do great impression of the Paddy McCourt shuffle, a sort of stramash that resembled Super Mario doing unmentionables with a turtle then a load of lime running towards a black mass that looked like a volcano spilling out lava onto – and improving – Paisley.

“I think we’ve scored” I said, then I ordered chocolate fudge cake and the urge to deface Ratbhoy’s book, which is reduced in a Supermarket near you, when out shopping later that evening was lost.

Why do we struggle at St Middens new midden? Who was the best of the Hoops on show? Who had a dodgy haircut and is Daryl Murphy still a big pie? I need to know and the highlights won’t tell me. But I know the men who will….
