Remember Jorge Cadete’s Entrance to Celtic Folklore?

|

It’s 7pm on Christmas Eve. Few sherries have maybe been had and maybe a few beers brewed by the thumbnail of this blog. So, your probably bored…waiting on the kids to go to bed so you can build some toys that will annoy the life out you or fed up watching repeats and just waiting for the whole big over-rated pile of dog poo to end.

Anyway, with Jim Farry passing this year and the re-writing of his part in the registration farce of Jorge Cadete (the truth is here*) it got me thinking (and also that Heineken asked me to think about great entrances) about Jorge Cadetes entrance at Celtic Park. For me it has to be the most memorable I have seen in my lifetime. His goal is etched on my mind clearly. The noise and delirium it brought I don’t think has been matched since for a player opening his account.

The goal and match highlights are below. Can you think of a better entrance?

*the wiki piece was written by AuldBhoy who sadly passed away a few weeks back. RIP, his work will be marvelled at for years to come*

brings back special memories of a difficult time for Celtic supporters. pity the highlights didn’t show the moment cadete got subbed onto the pitch. That also got the goose bumps going as he emerged from the shadow of the dug out. class sheer class.

also just realised just how much I miss tommy burns being around our club. didn’t give us much in the way of trophies but I have so many special memories from when he was manager.

was that the black hearted rodent of bonkle officiating that night???

Unsure, aye missing the sub and Gerry commentating are the down points. The club misses Tommy as well.

I remember idolising cadete and also mr di canio for a few years in high school, the pre-henrik years, not much happened except a cup, but cadete was a special player. Could do with a cadete now!

Heineken! Product placement LOTW? have we turned all Hollywood since the popularity of the blog has blossomed 😀 😀 😀

What next a brucehill blog sponsored by Uncle Joes mint balls? A Harpers Harp sponsored by Harp? 😀 😀

Great entrance……..Sutton……6-2…..performance against rangers……its then i started to believe the Sutton of old was back….and you just knew somewhere a Chelsea/rangers firm boy was biting his fist in anger. No longer was he a chelsea premiership reject as ‘they’ labelled him, he entered into Celtic folklore that day. Still remember his roar and fist pump celebration as if it happened yesterday.

Remember this night so well, a special night in an otherwise fairly dark period for us. Cadete was a special player, such a shame we had him for such a short time. Funny how everything came so close to being so good around this time, real quality players, but nothing to show for it.

My uncle picked me up and waved me like a flag when cadete dinked that ball in, wonderful memory.

    Hail Hail

Thing is looking at it now we are in a similar situation. Team with some decent players, play some nice stuff at times, inexperienced manager in control of a team prone to mass inconsistency and lack bottle.
