The first ten minutes were frightening.
Lenny’s respectful starting line up was malfunctioning. We survived a crossbar scare then we took control. Commons showed the Common Peepil. I have no complaints about the penalty or the sending off. If a keeper commits himself like that then he sets himself up for a player as light on his feet as Ferret Heid to take a tumble.
Ferret Heid got what was coming to him. He should have been booked for an earlier dive then a lunge at Wilson should have seen him walk before half time.
Lennon got the calls right. I didn’t think he was making the correct calls at the time but that’s why I’m not paid that money. One of his changes nearly won the game if it wasn’t for a Goramesq save.
We can take a lot of positives from this. More than them. They looked washed up and a busted flush. Unable or unwilling to come out and play against 10 men. We dominated but didn’t win.
Final point is, I was disappointed in Brown showing that we were effected by the ineffectual Diouf.

Naismith dived for the penalty. That’s what I have a complaint about.
Forster came out because he had to and it worked as it forced Naismith to knock the ball wide. It’s not his fault that Naismith then decided to dive, with the only contact being his knee to Forster’s head.
I don’t buy into the whole “he gave him the opportunity” thing. Brown gets that too, but at the end of the day he was doing his job and Naismith cheated. What was the alternative, hesitate and leave more of the goal exposed?
Yes, Forster had to come out. But keepers always seem to commit usually with dire results. Players watch for the keepers doing this.
It was the correct shout by the MIB.
As I said, Naismith went down before there was contact – probably due to the fact he kicked the ball too far away. When there was contact it was his knee into Forster’s head, due to him deciding to dive. It was a wee bit like Albertz’s dive that knocked Lambert’s teeth out.
Regardless of whether Forster was right to commit or not, he didn’t foul Naisith and the decision was wrong.
Just for the record, it happened so fast that I don’t blame the referee or linesman at all. They were conned by Naismith.
I agree it was a penalty but we all know it shouldn’t have been a red card. No-Smith was never gonna get the ball after he knocked it past Forster. All in all though, i’m happy with the result and the manner in which we got it. Welcome to Parkhead ya diddies! Haha.
All in all Foster had to go. He was in a no-win situation because of poor play by team mates. He could have stood his ground and been criticised after conceding a goal, or come out and risk the challenge. Most keepers would make the challenge. As to Naismith cheating, well, if he had stopped dead after knocking the ball past Foster the keeper would have cleaned him up and conceded. As we saw he let his leg trail to be caught by the keeper. Cheating? No. Admirable? only if your name’s Andy Walker.
The disappointing thing for me though is that I think this result has probably cost my team The Cup and the league. Apart from a crowded schedule with a limited squad there’s evidence from this game of a loss of belief. Celtic should have been chasing 11 men running their socks off. Rangers should have been trying to work it as far up the ‘tic as they could with a view to setting a marker. As it was they tried to sit on a 1 goal lead, at home, against 10 men and were lucky to get a draw in the end. So Celtic took the plaudits, earned a home tie and left Ibrox with a moral victory. Leaving me and the Ibrox faithful what Chubby Brown would describe “as sick as fuck”

I totally agree with you regarding Brown’s celebration. Low class and immature. We should be rising above that kind of attitude. If Lennon can, as someone who was a player during “that incident”, then certainly the current squad can. Not a good example for the captain to set for the younger players !

this is a bit late-but i loved brown giving that prick it stinking-you dont know what was being said through that game,and if it was me playing idve went out with the intention of breaking dioufs leg in the 1st 50/50-dont give me this unbecoming of a celtic captain bs-cos big billy mcneil was no angel-game v the argies- etc -to brown-best thing he done since signing,and the goal wasnt bad also-remember that dioufs crimes in the game

I’ve got no problem with Browns celebration. I think he’s a loose cannon and not a very nice person but any player who would allow himself to be wound up by his celebration would deserve to go off. Diouff passed that test easily. Had it been the other way round I think Brown would have risen to the bait and attempted to crock Diouff at the first opportunity. Brown is often not in control of himself whereas, I think, Diouff is smarter, more calculating and therefore more ruthless. As for being a twat, there’s not much to pick between the two.
