The Shame And The Tommy Burns Song

|

Let this one rumble to around 29 seconds in. We have our fair share of idiots it goes with territory of having a large support. I have heard us sing things that I have been embarrassed about.

I wonder if Walter and Ally will be embarrassed or even condemn this?

Get past the old hag, then when you see Shell Suit Bob if your easily offended switch off.

A new low?

not even angered by it, totally expected, watched them laughing and cheering at half time during the 3 -2 barry robson penalty game a few years back when the celtic video board at parkhead flashed up memorials to peoples lost ones, just ordinary folk and they cheered that they were dead. Not a few, the majority.

  • boab says:

    absolutely disgusting.
    scotland’s shame indeed.

  • Adamsmaman says:

I was upset and disgusted by it but then I was sent this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWNqX0s7XDI I’ve never believed we are as bad as them but the people in this video should be banished

    • lordofthewing says:

As I said we have some fucking right idiots in our support. I would never defend them.

    • brianboru says:

Disgusting behavior by both sets of fans .I can’t for the life of me understand why they would stoop so low.I honestly thought we could claim the moral high ground but there’s still a bit of work to do yet.

      • lordofthewing says:

Those who seek the moral high ground usually are sweeping their embarrassments under the carpet. We’re not we are admitting we have a problem. But it’s one that never manifests itself ever time we go out in public.

  • erln01 says:

    a new low even for them.wished a hadn’t watched
    sickend

  • Jbhoy says:

Think there isn’t much difference between the fans on the bus and those in Lisbon but I would say least the boys are hiding their faces they think it’s a laugh but would be ashamed if they got caught the huns in the streets are happy to be seen and see no shame. To me it’s the difference between bernard manning and nick griffin, both equally in poor taste but there is only one that is a danger.

    • lordofthewing says:

They are hiding their faces cause they know they are being sick bastards, they know they are being scum and there is nothing laughable about it. The others think they are doing nothing wrong. Im sure their mothers would be proud.

      Or mother even.

    • lordofthewing says:

🙂 so I agree with you then.

  • brian says:

    disgusting

  • Wildrover says:

Pond scum. Part of the reason I’ll never return to Scotland.

  • john west Belfast says:

The difference is that we have enough people who will not accept this no matter were it emanates from , It is sick it is WRONG ..we as true supporters will not accept this , the club who organized this bus should make sure that the sickos are stopped from boarding any Celtic bound coach , we as Celtic supporters should not accept this , i am not going to play the small minority card because this is a shame these Celtic supporting sickos should be never be allowed to come near a Celtic game again..
We can,t complain about Scotland’s shame and then accept this ..lets rid ourselves of this sort of supporter and all that they bring because they bring nothing to CFC

  • Bhoy Fett says:

I have to agree with you there. I couldnt go back to living and breathing what I was happy to leave behind in the first place. I dont think i’ll listen to this chanting though. Just knowing is enough. As long as hatred and bitterness replaces social skills and common decency, I’m afraid episodes such as this will prevent any sort of transformation in Scotland.

  • jamesybhoy says:

john west Belfast …… its rangers fans in lisbon not celtic fans u mupet

  • billythetim says:

  • bobocop says:

Football fans tend to latch on to those events which are most embarrassing to their rivals or will cut the deepest. Therefore, in answer to the thousands, yes thousands, of Celtic fans who laughed uproariously at the few in monkey suits throwing bananas at Mark Walters, we have Parkhead dubbed forever as The Monkey Hoose. This is an insulting name but self inflicted, as are many of the more repulsive chants from Rangers supporters. The close ties to Catholicism means that the shameful and criminal acts committed by more than a few of the Order, and the hierarchy cover-up, will always be thrown in the faces of the Celtic support. The Celtic boys club scandal, IRA support and fundraising, supplying and sheltering Nazi U-boats in Republic harbours all add grist to the mill for those who can’t or wont forget. The vileness of the chants pale into insignificance against the actual events.
Although everyone is tarred with the same brush no-one I know thinks for an instant that Celtic fans are Nazi loving paedophiles, but it winds them up , which is the object of the exercise.
If the shoe was on the other foot in relation to the above, don’t think for a minute that Celtic fans would be any more charitable towards their rivals. To claim to be better than “them” whilst constantly referring to them as “Scotlands shame”,”scum” “huns” and the like is double standards and every bit as much tarring everyone with the same brush.
I go to Rangers games by car because I can’t stand the lowlife antics of many of the fans on the buses and don’t want to be associated with them. It annoys and offends me to be bracketed with them by people who are no different. I suspect this is the same for many on both sides of the divide.
One of the things that’s ignored though is that this kind of bile is not exclusive to the Old Firm. Fans of every club in the country are at it and get away with it week in and week out.
It just seems to be football.

    • Pujol says:

      Nazi U-Boats? FFS!

Away and throw shite at the moon, ya roaster!

    • lordofthewing says:

Why is Tommy Burns death embarrassing to the Celtic support? I’m I really thinking your trying pass the video of as banter? The Mark Walters incident, yes embarrassing but one the vast majority learned from.

Yes, today I see a sick uneducated cunt on the front of the notw giving joof racist abuse. I know he will be named, shamed and banned. Hopefully he will be fucking charged. Actually, I hope he’s put in a room with decent folk and gets a kicking.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. This is not tit for tat.

      • Pujol says:

I agree that ANYBODY giving out racist abuse should be barred from CP.

However, in this case, there’s a clearly photo-shopped still image which proves nothing. He could be raising his arms to say “come ahead”, or doing a Broonie. Was Diouf really even on the park when that picture was taken?

No “whataboutery” here. Just saying that doctored evidence indicates innocence and a stitch-up.

Actually, feck it, here’s some “whataboutery”. 7,000 of the filthy cunts singing TFS, and they have to digitally alter a picture of one guy and put it on the front page to make us look like a racist support?

        One Scotland right enough…

  • bobocop says:

I think you’ve missed the point lads. Tommy Burns death was a personal tragedy for his family and a loss to Celtic, which is why the halfwit element at Ibrox picked up on it.
The racism at Parkhead only stopped when Paul Elliot arrived.
Nazi U-Boats Puyol? Read your history and cringe, then again it might be lies.
NOTW? A shower of no-users who pander to the lowest common denominator. Tommy Sheridan? Poor Tommy. NOTW lied, his best man lied, his mates lied, the polis lied, his mates lied and his political colleagues lied. A huge conspiracy claimed Tommy. Wonder who he supports?
On the NOTW stuff you’re talking about. I wouldn’t know, I don’t read that tat and have no doubt that they’ll paint the blackest picture possible. Sensationalism sells papers, and the public can’t get enough.
By the way Puyol, abuse is abuse, whether its racist , sexist, bigoted or just plain old foul-mouthed.

    • Pujol says:

Better to be foul-mouthed than just another hun prick, who despite claiming to be superior to his knuckle-dragging co-supporters, still can’t help lumping all things Irish and Celtic into one big pan-fenian pot of badness (unless you really think there were U-Boats in Celtic Park?).

I bet your first name’s Campbell or Crawford, and on the 12th you’re hiding behind the curtains manually keeping time with the big drum while really wishing you had the nerve to be out there with the bucky-swiggers.

Huns trying to take the moral high-ground over racist behaviour? Feck me gently, I’ve heard it all now…

  • bobocop says:

Tut tut Pujol, I don’t abuse you, but you freely insult me. I’m a Rangers fan, so I’m bad, shameful, scum, blah blah blah……
Get a grip of yourself. Take the advice of John west Belfast, “agree, disagree, but dont insult.” In fact read his post again and think about it.
Full blown bigotry is a short step from stereotyping and thats what you’re doing.
If your post was meant to be abusive then it’s ten out of ten. If it’s meant to be amusing then you’ll have to try harder.

    • john west Belfast says:

“Football fans tend to latch on to those events which are most embarrassing to their rivals” Tommy Burns death was not an embarrassment , it was a tragedy for his family , the Celtic family and football as a whole, the famine was not an embarrassment , it was genocide inflicted upon the Irish people ,being Irish is not an embarrassment it is an honour to have such a wonderful culture and heritage , being catholic is not an embarrassment it is a blessing Being a Celtic supporter is not an embarrassment it is a privilege .
Singing banned racists songs , singing songs about the death of one of Scotland’s best loved sons , up to your neck in Fenian blood , Nazi salutes and then chanting British war tunes towards certain players ( make your minds up ) , hooliganism ,anti -Irish /catholic leanings .. now that’s an embarrassment

  • bobocop says:

The only part of your comment I would take issue with John is the famine being an act of genocide. That bears examination. The rest is well said, and I thoroughly agree with most of it. The idea though that all ‘gers fans are the same and don’t feel a sense of shame at the conduct of the halfwits, is itself offensive and unwarranted. Those criticisms at the end of your statement are valid but can also be levelled at some of the celtic support whose anti-british/protestant/ sentiments are just as rabid and un-thinking as the blue side of the city.

    • john west Belfast says:

Yes there are so called Celtic supporters who behave in a way that should stop them them from coming near a Celtic game , look back through the posts look through other sites and forums and you will see that most Celtic supporters don,t want racists or bigots to be part of the Celtic family and you will hear them shout from the rooftops that we don,t want you, but unfortunately bobocop you cannot hear your lone voice above your fellow supporters , or above the corridors of power that treats a section of it citizens as second class or above the boardroom of your own club that refused to sign a catholic. also i don,t care if someone doesnt like the irish , or celtic or me for being a catholic , it is the way that dislike manifests itself . I hope we can hear more voices like yours , against bigotry sectarianism and racisism …. are you sure you not a tim?
