The Press Have A Blind Spot When It Comes To Lennon (Video)
The predictable and frankly laughable outcry over Lennon’s friendly misdemeanor has snowballed into another predictable ‘witch-hunt’. It doesn’t matter that players, coaching staff and Bilbao officials state that the referee was a bit of a picky sort.
The press dressed down the old pictures of Lennon looking like the angry horny monkey and today has seen him described as ‘wound up‘, ‘humiliated‘ and ‘volatile‘.
As this has progressed the news feeds have been full of regurgitated quotes from Lennon’s official twitter, as quoted here yesterday, and most takes on the incidents seem remarkably similar, word for word almost.
One paper (sic) try to paint a negative picture of the friendly by stating that ” in another attack on the Parkhead club, Bilbao officials last night complained that Celtic had not worn the Hoops during the match and had only attracted 250 supporters from Scotland.”
Unusual then for a partisan Basque news outlet to describe the game as a ‘Fiesta‘ and ‘A Marvel‘ if they are disappointed.
In a time of austere measures I fully understand that stretched budgets won’t run to meaningless friendlies so thecelticblog brings you footage of the incident for you to report on. But, maybe you would rather report blind?
