Different Stokes: Reason Why He Was Left Out Against Motherwell?

Our Irish striker seems to court controversy as easy as some of us find getting out of bed in the morning.

In a season that has seen him banished to observing the action in ‘big games‘ (where Lennon seems to fall for Samaras charms with mixed results), had his Dad say that he wanted to leave due to this then – right at the tail end off the season – he gets both barrels from Trappatoni after withdrawing from the ROI squad – citing tiredness – for the white elephant that was the Carling Nations Cup.

Trappatoni’s savaging against Stokes (and the attitude of young players in general, most of whom seem to quite happy to play the pampered rich boys card with regular occurrence) comes only 2 weeks after he was sent home by Celtic after breaching club rules before the final league game of the season.

As is usual under Lennons regime the team stays together the night before any game in a hotel. The choice before the Motherwell game was the Hilton in Glasgow.

The ever fantastic Celtic Underground Rumours Twiiter, spread some interesting news regarding the identity of other guests at the hotel that night.

I really can’t grasp what a young fairly weathly tattooed footballer would do when presented with a hotel bar full of Miss Scotland finalists. Maybe these pictures could clear things up?

Before you ask: “What would George Best have done?” think about this. Stokes is no Best and what if our management team had been watching Noel Hunt instead of Shane Long over the last few weeks?

This is all conjuncture. Off course. I’m not feeling the need to drown kittens yet.
