Quote Of The Day: The Legend Of Stijn Stijnen (In His Own Mind)

It was the kind of quote that makes you stand up and take notice. It sounded like it came from a man who would eat live rabbits even after watching Watership Down, shove old women off a bus for smelling, kill any centre halve or striker that got in his way and you knew that it could only come from a man so confident that his forename is a shortened version of his surname.

Step forward Stijn Stijnen, who seemingly told a Belgian paper:

“I am Stijn Stijnen. I’ve played 30 times for the Belgian national team and in quite a lot European and Champions League games. Why should I prove myself in a friendly game?”

Off course this has now been denied by the club. Which is a shame as if this was true it would have gave me justification to say who the feck is Stijn Stijnen?

Anyway, with Stipe Pletioska being released by Spartak and if his knees hold up to a couple of baseball bat attacks or need for a goalie will be no longer desperate.
