National Lawell-poons International week vocation?

Firmly is the grasp of our remotes, the majority of us hardcore football fans at this moment in time are either watching a live international match, have watched a match or/are in the wake in the days after an international match.

Whilst I write this the Ireland match graces my TV set…

…but meanwhile at Celtic Park: –

Like the preparation for Christmas seems to get earlier and earlier each year we are already being linked with players for the January influx, but there are those who could be also outward bound.

Big Jos Hooiveld who in recent weeks netted his first goal for current loan club Southampton, has been linked with a permanent move to the Saints.

This could be a good deal who knows? But in addition his services could be retained dependent on whether we knuckle down and eventually sign an additional defender to bolster the backline.

As for Swedes, nevermind King Henrik, Big Dolph, Freddie Ljunchbox or Man Mountain Maj we have yet been linked with another Swedish international which could join the Celtic ranks in January.

Rosenborg defender, Mikael Lustig has been touted as being available as his contract expires this month.

The 24 year old is an attacking right back/wing back who has featured regularly for the Swedish club. He stands at 6ft 3? tall and he can also operate efficiently at centre back.

He has 21 caps for Sweden so he comes with some well earned stars on his belt and has come up against some quality players at International level.

He sounds like the perfect foil to join the Celtic defence, but Celtic will face a fight for his signature from Spanish club Espanyol and London club Fulham .

The question is has Lawell made this call in the international break or is he, Lennon or the bhoys hard working scouting network watching for his (Lustigs) inclusion in tonight’s match against england.

Lustig, from my investigation, is normally a starting place contender for the Swedish national side, so it is a possibility the Celtic scouts will be watching and taking notes as he comes up against Stewart Downing or otherwise coming down his flank.

It is that question of questions again, do we really need another defender?

Is a right back a must have?

Should our focus be on the job in hand rather than off field antics of transfers or whatever is being floated around in the red top rags?

Bhoys and Ghirls your opinions please. . .
