Brucie’s Play Your Transfer Window Right

Good Game Good Game!

So it is now just about mid January and Celtic’s only new arrival is Mikael Lustig the center half, right back, left back, midfielder, painter and decorator Swedish international. No one has left the club yet despite various rumours already linking Ki with a move to just about every club outside Scotland and Adam Matthews (Celtic’s best performer all season long) has been linked (mostly by the scottish media to be fair) with a move to Everton or Liverpool. Isn’t it astonishing to see that even in Rangers’ desperate financial state, it is a Celtic player who is linked with a move away every day. Note today Edu is the Rangers player in today’s rag off to France. STV (Don’t shoot me) have informed their readers that it was infact Rangers who invited the offer from Edu. Applying logic would suggest that any forthcoming offer would be accepted and Mo Edu will be away scoring touchdowns from within the pocket in France very soon.

Rangers can’t afford Scott Allan, everyone knows this is fairly obvious even if he only went for 400K, so today the Daily Record have the headline ‘Celtic are my team but I’d follow Scott to England’  The player in question is Airdrie’s Ryan Donnelly who is Scotland’s top scorer. The article also states that the reason Allan isn’t at Ibrox is because he preferred going to England to test himself and young Donnelly would do the same instead of joining his boyhood heroes at Parkhead. Now without being too cynical, is today’s ‘everyone wants to go to England’ angle purely installed to deflect from the fact Rangers are absolutely skint? Well no because they’re going to sign a Spaniard for 2.5 Million. Despite telling us young Scots are going to England, there is a hot-shot Spaniard who is dying to sign for Rangers, and he doesn’t have to try his luck in England cause he wants to come up to Ibrox and score hundreds and hundreds of goals for Rangers. Behave. If Celtic want Ryan Donnelly he will be at Celtic Park because Celtic can afford to give Airdrie a fee for him.

Enough of that, I’ve given the paper far too much attention for one year!

So who is coming and who is staying? I’ll start with the outs and say that I don’t expect any of Celtic’s first teamers to be leaving this window. If one is most likely to leave then it would have been Ki but with Kayal being out for the season then I’d imagine Celtic wouldn’t sell another Midfielder unless either 1) Its funny money or 2) We have an able replacement for around the same amount of money lined up. McCourt might decided his time is up and leave for pastures new, which no one could hold against Paddy if he wants to see if he can get more first team football in another team. Rumours that a loan offer to Kilmarnock persist and if rumours are true then him linking up with Derek Riordan could be a tasty prospect.

Players coming in? I would be surprised if Celtic go to February without signing another player, IF Celtic get it right this month then the treble could well be within in our grasp. For me a center half and a striker are needed to ensure that the Celtic team is ready for the next 5 months of football. Maybe a loan signing for a central midfielder to cover for Kayal wouldn’t do us any harm but if not then IMO the Celtic midfield is more than capable of competing for all 3 trophies.

January always seems to be the biggest month off the park during the season and hopefully the hype from big moves that will happen down south. If Man City spend £50M on a center forward don’t automatically assume we’ve signed Edin Dzeko on loan until May. I’d imagine Lennon has his own targets nailed down and is doing all he can to secure that elusive target man.

Get It Right Celtic. This Ones For The Game…….
