Celtic have announced the signing of Nigerian U23 internationalist (Heh, that does sound lame) Rabiu Ibrahim after he successfully became the first player to get through our rigorous trials since Gary Holt and Justin Whittle.

They worked out well.

He comes with a bit of a pedigree and seems to have lost his way a bit after his starman performance in the 2007 FIFA U17 Championship. Moves to Sporting Lisbon and PSV haven’t quite worked out.

A 3 and a half year deal for this ‘project’.

Here’s the video.

Rembember the last player we signed from a Dutch team that couldn’t get a game…… we can only wait and see…. In Lenny we trust , we must!

Oh good, another midfielder, we’re a bit short on those…

From the video he seems to like a back heal or two!
If he tries that in SPL he’ll end up in row Z.
Still no striker and although the tax case finished for our friends across the city I still smell a rat.
    Is history repeating itself?

I’ve been thinking about the ‘reaction’ to Baba Diawarra signing for Seville – for a measly 3m euros – and it’s hard not to link it to The Fletcher Factor we so fear. If I get time the subject needs to be poked with a stick.

Oh, I will get your blogs up soon (just back on line after 8 long hard weeks).

        Hope the move went well.
I didn’t know about Baba……….. and only 3M euros. Another one that got away!
I can see Lennon going for Sutton mark 2 for the powerfull forward and in some respects I can see why. He knows the Scottish game, won’t need to adjust to a new country, and he’ll be desparate to prove himself after the time he’s had at Hearts……. and of course he won’t cost much.

Think that would be a good signing for us, not near as good as his brother but were nowhere near that level now anyway.

The Jam Farts are in real bother (see them today willing to drop the agreed transfer fee for Lee Wallace if Tax Dodgers FC pay them up front instead of in two instalements) and Sutton could be available for a song.

Though it just smacks of Killen and Murphy. One trick ponys who are as honest as the day is long but are easily handled on occassions by the lumbering oafs in the SPHell.

Michael Higdon has made a decent career for himself in Scotland. Would you want him near our club? though that sentiment smacks of snobbery (and I don’t think we have any right to look down our nose at anyone) the point is these players survive – and make a decent living – in the Scottish game because we are light years behind the rest.

I fully understand why Lennon wishes this type of player. It’s a limited off the bench option only unwrapped domestically – remember Chris Killen lumbering around in the Stadium Of Light as the lone front man? Man alive I’m weeping at that memory – but the player doesn’t add anything to the overall quality of the squad.

It’s a temporary band aid until you get your broken leg fixed.

I would rather we look for more technical players who can breakdown the numerous parked buses we face rather than resort to the battering ram approach. We need a striker who can play the lone front man role but he can’t be in the Scottish mould.

I was also impressed by Cousan when he was at them. I really thought – ok, my thoughts were blinded by hope, longing and desperation – that Fortune could have done that job for us.

We need that player. Not a Sutton V2.0.

Other than Stan Varga, I’m struggling to think of anyone else who has made it through a trial period to get a contract. I’m sure Ljungberg was only training with us rather than actually on a trial.

This morning I was also pointed to Kapo but in my defence i say that Freddie and Kapo only got short term deals.

Also, just rememebered MK Dons reject that is Andre Blackman also got a contract this season after a training stint. He has never looked like getting a game.
