The Demonisation Of Neil Lennon: Part One.

The above picture was used numerous times in the mainstream media since the largely forgettable Glesga Derby.

It’s a classic headmaster pupil pose. But..consider this. What would be the reaction be if the roles were reversed? If Lennon was the aggressor towering over Iain Brines?

It’s another day so another SFA charge lands at our managers door. This time for requesting that hopefully he will get a decent refereeing performance in our next game. A charge so ludicrous that even those that make the most of Lennon’s misdemeanors deem it harsh.

Our manager may have done something wrong in the tunnel at Ibrox. But the chronological version of events does point to collusion between the officials with Brines being the main instigator. Remember his involvement in last seasons Shame Game?

The media are cute with Lennon. They use pictures to paint a picture of the man. While Lennon doesn’t help himself at times his character is defined by the pictures the media uses. A snarling Lennon on the front page will see the old wife buying the paper see an angry man who doesn’t seem very nice.

The authorities are cute as well. Why a charge for Lennon and none for Butcher after he accused ref’s of cheating and favoritism numerous times this season?

This is the start of a series. Anytime we see hypocrisy in print or on-line we will highlight it. Anytime we see a picture of a snarling Lennon we will use it. The SFA and the SPL? Aye, we will take on you as well.

We need your help.

Send in any pictures of managers you see snarling. Send in any incidents of hypocrisy.

Send them to thecelticblog@snack-media.com or put them in the comments if you have historical incidents that have been forgotten.
