I have been told on numerous occasions today – against accepted conventional wisdom – that two wrongs make a right. That a marginal offside (the kind of decision that is missed week in week out) is the same as a panicked decision when a professional referee forgets the laws of the game and goes with the desperate shout.
The Law says
Hand ball. Law 12. The ref must consider : movement of hand towards ball ( not ball towards hand ) distance between the opponent and the ball
Mr Norris in his panic hasn’t considered any off this.
There was plenty of other reasons – that will be discussed in another blog – why this decision cost us but forgive me for being petty over such a ridiculous decision that ended our season.
The legacy of Dallas and his fast-tracking lives on. The standard of referee in this country has reached an all time low.
