My thoughts on pre-season are well documented.
Eating a Mars Bar with the wrapper on. Sex with a condom. Eating a steak pie without gooey paste.
Frank w@nk De Boer is building a nice little outfit at Ajax. His work is getting noticed and he was linked with most top jobs this summer. He lead the Dutch club to their first Eredivisie title in 7 years, scored 21 goals in 4 games in pre-season and ranked 35th in Europe playing a team who are ranked 63 and rapidly falling.
The news that they are better than us comes as no surprise what is worrying is when you read the words “unfit”, “off the pace”, “flat footed”, “second best”, “tactical inept”, “clueless” and “rusty” when we are four games in to our pre-season.
Our manager states that he takes the blame as he tried out a new 3 at the back formation. Unsure but I’m sure we played that at times towards the end of last season.

We could make incredibly feeble excuses about two horrible defensive errors and a penalty resulting in three of the four goals. But why bother?
The facts are that we were pathetically inept, a complete shambles, and couldn’t have scored if we were still playing today — even if they’d played without a ‘keeper! And all of the friendlies we have played so far have been exactly the same.
Let’s hope it gets sorted out very quickly, before the “real fitba” starts!….
