Will this be the team that brings the SPL title home again?

|

I am going to be very direct and to the point. After watching us in pre-season matches Lennon has tinkered with the side but he is firmly no Claudio, read on and I will explain.

Youth one match, the bench depth getting a clean run out the next and then possibly and arguably in our last pre-season match in Germany the closest thing to our starting line up? Possibly?

Zaluska being put in net tells me that Lennon may be giving every one a fair flip of the coin (educate me otherwise if Fraser is injured) and keeping the goalkeepers on their toes.

Twardzik has been impressive according to a few Celts who have travelled, “He has a good touch and could get even better” said a few.

Personally  I think if I say Lennon is blooding the youngsters in pre-season, arguably he could have done it all last season with the average age of our starting line-ups, a fair rub of the green, mind the pun, is what he is doing.

He has changed the squad slightly every pre-season match these are the possible reasons why: –

  • Fixtures against Ajax, Norwich and Inter Milan are on the horizon, keeping every body on their toes.
  • With Cha, Maj gone and possibly other departures it gives an initial push to those on the fringes to compete their ways into the main circle of starting players, this shows Lennon is clearly assessing.
  • August is quickly approaching so Lennon and the backroom staff are crunching the programme in stern and fast to bring on the level of fitness throughout the squadto make sure come august the players are of all a plateau level of training that will make sure that if needed, those in reserve can step in and not be huffing and panting.

With these few facts in mind I have put together our starting 11 as its stands that I think Lennon will likely pick come the Aberdeen match on the 4th of August, your comments are welcome as always, will this be the side that takes the rest to the cleaners next season? : –

Would have Sammy in ahead of Commons any day.

And Broony’s got to be in there. I’m not a huge fan, but he does make a difference when he’s on the pitch. Hard to drop Kayal or Ledley, but one of them would have to make way.

    • Sean says:

Excellent response. Lennon has no easy decisions come Aberdeen, I think kayal has superb ball skills and off the ball workrate and ledley is just as good on his day, but it will be down to Brown being club captain.

Sammy will be ready to impact from the bench I imagine.

  • O'Cahan says:

A good call, it does not look like any deal will be done regarding Ki until after the Olympics, so lets hope he stars in them, more £££ for Lenny.
So as far as new signings goes ,it looks like we will have to wait a wee while longer for our 2 new signings.

    • Sean says:

I get a feeling we may leave it until the last 2 weeks of the window to bring players in.

The question is do we desperately need them?

  • Jamie says:

I think Brown (c) instead of Commons will be picked

    • Sean says:

I think you maybe right as he is skipper and all, but if all the players above are firing on all cylinders it will be a tough call, but a good call they are all on form.

  • Kieran says:

    Forster

    Wanyama Rogne Mulgrew

    Kayal Ledley

    Forrest Brown Commons Izaguirre

    Hooper

Would love to see this being tried..packed midfield with security so we can have a 3 man attack with Forrest & Commons joining Hooper.

And sell Ki to fund an experienced centre half at the expense of Rogne.

    • Sean says:

That is interesting, a formation away from the 4-4-2 to accommodate all our ball playing midfielders, that option could be exercised yet.

Lennon take note from Kieran here. Hail hail.
