Filip TwardzikCeltics development side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Motherwell in the SPFL Development League on Monday (The 17th of November).

The young hoops took on Motherwell’s development side at Fir Park, a double from Well’s Dom Thomas handed Celtic their second defeat of the season. Thomas found the Celtic goal twice, a goal each side of half time was enough to sink the Bhoys.

Thomas opened the scoring for the home side in the 43rd minute after winning the ball in the hoops half before firing past the Celtic goalkeeper Leo Fasan.

Celtic went in at half time a goal down, but looked to change that after the restart. The very early stages of the second half saw Celtic put pressure on the Motherwell backline but to no avail.

As Celtic pressed for an equalizer they left them self open to counter attacks and on the 58th minute they were punished for doing so. Dom Thomas doubled his sides lead as well as his goal tally, Thomas picked the ball up outside the Celtic box after a counter attack, and he worked his way into the box before firing a shot into the top corner.

Celtic pushed to get something from the game, but Motherwell stayed strong and the game ended 2-0 to the home side.

The development side’s next game is against Everton in the inaugural Premier League International Cup on November the 25th.
