Two goals in the last ten minutes sealed Celtic’s place in the fourth round of the SFA Youth Cup.

The young hoops faced a sturdy Motherwell outfit in the third round of the SFA Youth Cup at Cappielow, Greenock on Sunday, November 2nd.

With time running out and the score still level, it looked like the original 90 minutes wasn’t going to be enough to separate the two sides until Luke Donnelly assisted Liam Henderson in opening the scoring. Donnelly’s pass found Henderson, who put the ball into the net from a tight angle to give the young Celts the lead in the 82nd minute.

Celtic had finally found the back of the Motherwell net and it wouldn’t be long until they found it again when Kieran Tierney doubled the hoops lead in the 89th minute. Paul McMullan supplied Tierney with the ball before he netted and end all doubt about which of the two sides would be in the fourth round draw.

The young hoops will now wait and see who their fourth round opponents will be. Next up for the Bhoys is an away trip to face Dunfermline Athletic in the SPFL Development League on the 6th of November.

Celtic: Hart; O’Connell, Kelleher, Findlay, Waters; Thomson, Lindsay, Henderson; Miller (Donnelly 61) McMullan, Tierney

Not Used Subs: McCabe, McCart, Breslin, Wardrop

Motherwell: Stewart, Watt, McMillan, Ferguson, Neill, McCall, Mackin (Anderson – 82mins), Cadden, Higgins, Thomas, MacLean

Do you think the young hoops can win the SFA Youth Cup?
