Wee Jay Beatty, Celtic superfan, inspiration and hero to the Hoops support, took, and scored, a penalty kick with such aplomb at Hamilton this weekend, that a lot of us cast a backward glance at history, and wished he, and not his mucker Big Sammy, had been on the park at Ibrox in April 2011.

The wee man did so well, and was so delighted, that a moment later he slammed the ball into the net again and then tried to do something a former Celtic manager attempted, and failed, to do … with the same result!

Hell, you can’t blame Jay! He’s not even a teenager!

Gordon was a full grown man when he attempted this!

So who’s was the best effort at getting over the boards?

Judge for yourself:

Wee Jay goes for it!

Strachan fails at it!

I, personally, think Jay had the better effort. Gordon gets to it … seems to realise he won’t make it … stops … then half heartedly gives it a whirl!

Wee Jay at least has a proper go, doing it with some enthusiasm!

I’m willing to bet when he’s the age Gordon was in that clip he’ll get over it just fine!

Jay is a multi talented kid …. with far better glasses than Elton John …

He also looks much cooler in them than this scruffy so-and-so …

And he clearly works harder in training …

In this video, you can see how much better a penalty taker he is than Big Sammi …

And as you can see from the first video, he has more composure in front of goal than Van Vossen ….

And a celebration only matched by one man … The King himself!

Stick your tongue out next time Jay! But don’t let anyone talk you into dreadlocks!

All in all, you’ll agree, I’m sure, that some have got it and some ain’t …

Jay Beatty … what a star.

He’s got the lot! The Celtic Family is proud of you mate!

Hail Hail!
