Turnbull-Hutton

This website wishes to send its condolences to the family of Turnbull Hutton, and Raith Rovers Football Club, on the sad news of his death today.

Turnbull was the man this game needed, at the moment we needed him most.

The supporters, not just at Raith but across Scottish football, will miss him tremendously, and think of him often and well.

He told the truth that others feared to tell. He cut through the BS and waved away the smokescreen, to give us the facts as plain as you like.

On this day, one year ago, his club beat Sevco Rangers to win the Challenge Cup at Easter Road.

That was his great day, his reward and his justice for what had come before.

He is one of the most respected administrators in the history of our game, and he should have been much more.

His death is our loss. He will never be forgotten.

On Fields of Green has paid tribute to him today. You can read it here.

RIP Mr. Hutton. You stood tall where few others dared, or desired. You showed true class and integrity when the game was in danger of becoming even more corrupt than the old club, Rangers had taken it through years of dishonesty, theft, blackmail and bribery. You will always be remembered as the one man with the backbone to tell it as it is.

A man of integrity. A man who knew what “without fear or favour” actually means. He’ll be missed and it’ll be proven that Scottish Football owes him and his club a massive debt. Requiescat in pace, Big T.

I got to know Mr Hutton quite well over the past few years and shared correspondence with him on a regular basis. I found him to be a man of great compassion, dignity, courage and intelligence.
Although I was aware of his illness, I am today deeply saddened by his passing and will miss his wit and gentle humour. May his soul rest in peace.
My thoughts and condolences also go especially to his wife, his son and his daughter, but also to all those at Raith Rovers F.C. and all Raith Rovers fans.
This was a man of great honesty, integrity and courage.
You will be remembered and missed by many TB. Pax vobiscum.

Very sad news , Turnbull was my boss at United Distillers and was always honest and helpful , I am glad he got to see his beloved Rovers play Bayern Munich in real competition as this really made him very happy indeed.
    God Bless X
