Alan Stubbs has today launched a furious broadside against those he calls “ambassadors” for Sevco, as those at Ibrox and people around them continue trying to unsettle Scott Allan and force the club’s hand, despite repeated assertions that he will not be sold to them.

Stubbs has been remarkably restrained up until now, and he revealed that he’s already called Mark Warburton twice to tell him that the club will not entertain bids from Glasgow.

“There have been two phone calls, after the first and second bids,” he said. “Will I make a third? No. I didn’t think I would have to make one, I certainly didn’t think I would have to make two. I certainly won’t be making three.”

Warburton has clearly not respected Alan’s wishes, and that, and a sustained campaign in the media, have finally snapped his patience.

Although the Sevco boss claims to think it “disrespectful” to talk about another club’s player, Stubbs has not missed the steady procession of ex-players and officials, trumpeting their views in the spoon fed press.

Today he launched a long overdue attack on the media and ex-Rangers and Sevco players who have been doing Warburton’s work for him.

“Obviously Mark is right saying he does not want to speak about it, but I see lots of ambassadors for the football club have managed to speak about it – maybe that’s a way round it … I think the publicity has been quite one-sided, it’s been as if we would give in. Maybe they do not realise how serious we are.”

The publicity certainly has been one sided.

This website has commented, several times, on the way in which it’s the media who have been pushing the Ibrox agenda and Stubbs clearly believes that this is the time to try and put a stop to it.

The media clearly believes it can still force his hand, but Stubbs was unequivocal when asked whether a deal can still be done that sees the player at Ibrox.

“I don’t think people have respected our position as a football club in what we are doing. I think sometimes people think what we are doing is wrong – I think we have every right … You do not sell your best player to a rival club … Our stance has not changed, and it is not going to change …

“I think we have been very clear from day one; we will not do business with Rangers.

“That will not change, that will be the same on September 1.”

It’s hard to see how the Hibs manager could be more emphatic than that.

Indeed, reports from Edinburgh suggest that Stubbs has the full backing of the board on this one, and furthermore has staked his own reputation on it to the extent he considers it a line in the sand as far as his job goes.

He would, quite literally, be willing to resign over this.

I very much doubt that’ll be necessary.

Sevco are not going to get the player.

It’s as simple as that.

The media campaign will continue unabated, of course.

Same old game by Scottish newspaper controlled by those who wear bowler hats and have funny handshakes .I think they live i n a fantasy land where there is only one Team in Scotland and Others have to put up with daily criticism and redicule .To S.F.A I say this take your sevco coloured specs and stop bending over backwards to help these corrupt individuals and start helping the other teams in the leagues . I have never watched so much bias in a association for years that would make seb Blatter blush .

well done Allan about time those at ibrox where put in there place all the best to you and the hibbbeeessss

  • Roibeard says:

Well done Hibs for standing your ground, you’ve won the admiration of a lot of football fans, sevco think they still can do what they like, they say you learn from your mistakes but it’s obvious sevco hasn’t, after what they’ve done to Scottish football they should be eating large doses of humble pie instead of being school yard bullies with all their gang (media pals) backing them up

  • Andy says:

I don’t rate the lad but if Hibs do then put a £1 million price tag on his head.Sevco could never afford that, I seriously doubt they could afford £400,000.

Not a word from the RFC fans with laptops about the club’s deliberate attempts to destabilise the player’s relationship with his own club, or the overt “tapping” of him in advance of the Petrofac game. This has been all about RFC trying to sell more season tickets and to upset the club most likely to be their biggest rivals this season.
All going on while the RST continues its pathetic campaign to play victim, whining about the SPFL when the fact is their club is fortunate to remain within it.
Good for Hibs for not giving in to the bully tactics and shame on RFC. As for Scott Allan, who’ll sit it out now in the hope of a Bosman in January? Be careful what you wish for, Scott.

    • Supermo says:

PS rest assured these “offers” will not be as they appear. Most likely subject to several instalments and conditions, and aimed entirely at taking a rival’s top player out of the game.

RFC once offered a Scottish club £250,000 for a certain “Rangers minded” SPFL player in TEN instalments. Player went to England instead.

  • Tam mcg says:

Celtic should sign him then loan him back to the hibees ????

  • joe mccormack says:

Hibs should publish full details of the bid from Ibrox.

Deposit, instalments, add ons for winning Championship, add ons for Champions League qualification, Embassy coupons, ginger bottles er Al.

Expose them for the paupers that they are.

  • wulz says:

The Scottish media supporting their club sevco, as usual showing no respect towards anyone or anything outside their club. Their bids show how pathetic an outfit they are. Well done to Hibs and Stubbs for handling the situation professionally.
