Hibs Slam Dodgy Dave Claims Over Allan

It seems like the “glib and shameless liar” just can’t help himself.

Earlier today, he gave an interview to some hacks where he “thanked” Celtic for signing Scott Allan from Hibs, and said that the Edinburgh club had contacted Sevco to offer them the player, before changing their minds and bringing down the shutters.

I read King’s comments earlier, and I found them to be typically small-minded and petty, which is what you expect from a guy who lives by his ego and can’t seem to let anything get past him.

At a time when his club is doing reasonably well on the pitch, you’d think he’d be happy with that … but every little slight and reversal gnaws at this guy’s guts like a virus.

There’s no other reason for wanting to re-open this wound than that he simply found losing the player to Celtic unbearable.

What does that tell you about his mentality?

Yet not only was it clearly a bitchy, gutterball in the dirt but Leeann Dempster, the Hibs CEO, has already come out to say that it was also untrue.

Now, who’d have thought that eah?

King’s comments have also been slammed by Alan Stubbs, who questions the timing of the intervention, and added that he found it “all a little strange”.

In a week when Sevco is again rocked by controversy and facing difficult times as it seeks external funding just to get through the season, this looks a little like a piece of attempted deflection, or maybe it’s simply a case of King, a man who enjoys publicity, not being in the news for a while.

Either way, what we have is another episode where the Sevco chairman has made a highly dubious claim to the media which has been later rubbished as groundless … albeit this one has unravelled a wee bit quicker than he perhaps thought.

Do they ever get sick of this guy doing that to them?

Apparently not.

The more things change, eah?
