Today the SFA announced that the East Kilbride v Celtic match would take place at the Excelsior Stadium, the home of Airdrie, on 7 February and an opportunity to take advantage of the Ladbrokes promotion.
The problem is, according to the former footballer and now broadcaster Gordon Dalzeil, there was already a game taking place there that day.
A charity match.
The match, between a Sevco – Celtic select, has now been cancelled.
The SFA have quite literally done a charity out of money.
A new venue will have to be found for the game, with very little notice, and the scheduling clash will shave numbers off the expected attendance, in a double whammy that could cost thousands.
The game was arranged a while ago and Dalziel and others have been promoting it ever since.
He would have been running the Sevco team for the game.
Tonight, on Radio Clyde, he said he was “surprised” to hear the SFA announcement, and he confirmed that the charity match had been still been scheduled to go ahead when the announcement was made. That game is now confirmed to be off.
It absolutely defies belief that the SFA were willing to move that game, with very little notice, to accommodate this one, when the ground had already been booked for it and other grounds were available.
In scrambling to cover themselves for their own disastrous mistake as regards to Hamilton’s ground, they have now disenfranchised a charity.
I said in my earlier post that the SFA’s uselessness has been made obvious in the last week with the shambles over the first venue for this game, but this is disgusting and heartless and reveals the total lack of compassion or caring at Hampden.
How does the SFA do this?
How do they consistently find ways to screw up?
The charity in question – SIMBA – raises money to honour the memories of babies who were stillborn or miscarried.
It is supported by a number of celebrities and high profile individuals like Michelle McManus and Lisa Hague.
This is a PR catastrophe for the Association, one for which heads would have rolled in any other corporate culture.
What “leaders” we have in our national sport.
What forward thinkers.
They are a national joke, and their conduct is a national scandal.
I have a feeling the backlash over this will be ferocious, and it ought to be.
What a disgraceful bunch these people are.

HEARTLESS SCUMBAGS !
HH
It’s not a Sevco team, it’s former players of the previous team that played out of ipox
what a bunch of d###heads ,they couldnt organise a piss~up in a brewery
SFA must all be sacked for they will not resign.
La Florida Bhoy
Won’t be the first time charity will miss out when sevco are playing.
It is time fans boycotted. all cup competition and made a stance. Sponsors too should give it to them.
Yes James…….”They are a national joke, and their conduct is a national scandal”……and that they surely are BUT there will be no apology,no sacking, no taking of responsibility etc etc etc, WHY?
because they think they are untouchable as this is Scotland and they THINK they rule over the fans.
As you said in an earlier blog it takes the fans OR the other clubs to take action over that bunch from Hampden
It would be nice if celtic gave their share of the gate receipts to this worthwhile charity
the sfa are a joke forcing to cancel a chairty match for good causes the sfa should hang there heads in shame
Typical disgraceful sfa.
I would suggest that CELTIC fans do not turn up for this match.
Airdrie has never been a very hospitable place for any CELTIC supporters.
Being from EK I enquired about tickets for myself and the kids.
We will not be travelling to Airdrie.
Think I get your point but the biggest losers in all this is East Kilbride.
Once in a lifetime game is becoming a horror story and if Celtic fans boycott then what for the wee team?
SFA like politicians need to remember they are servants not masters
Maybe we should try and find out if there is anyway of holding the charity game at paradise in conjunction with Celtic fc Foundation and once again show everyone what we are about and believe in…… HH
Hopefully SiMBA will at least be allowed a bucket collection at the game and maybe an advert in the programme?
EK have now offered up there game for the charity match. They called into Super Scoreboard tonight to make the offer which has been accepted. But yes the Sfa are not fit for purpose.
THE RUINATION OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS OUR CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION.
PLAY THE MATCH AT CELTIC PARK. GIVE EAST KILBRIDE A PAYDAY. OR WILL THAT BLOCK THE NATIONAL SHOCK RESULT AS THERE WILL BE TOO MANY WITNESSES?
Time for fans to vote with their feet and boycott the game. SFA have showed their uselessness in doing their jobs properly . On top off all they’ve spectacularly got wrong over years to do with certain club fans have to takes stand .
I don’t think we should boycott but mate organise a bucket collection. I know it won’t raise the funds that the game might have brought but at least we will be doing our bit like we normally do. Hail Hail!!!
Maybe we should try and find out if there is anyway of holding the charity game at paradise in conjunction with Celtic fc Foundation… HH
They(sfa) are a joke could’nt organise a piss up in a brewery
Incompetent no good amateurs who ruining our game instead being organised and building on what we already have , they would walk into a job with Sevco , they have all the qualifications !!!

Time for the SFA to be disbanded, clubs can’t take them to court for thier wrong doings without the extremely corrupt FIFA and EUFA threatening Scottish teams would be banned from european competition should Rangers not be punished. Rangers took the SFA to court over an illegal transfer embargo was imposed on them, Rangers win the court case then the top footballing authorities step in with thier threats to the SFA, we now clearly know why these governing bodies don’t want clubs taking thier FA’s to court, the corruption may have came out earlier, Blatter and Platini have been suspended for thier part in the corruption, time to suspend the SFA.
They could not run a stall in the Barra’s hopeless bunch should make bucket collection at game
Arrogant tossers
think this is terrible and not fair on the charity losing out sfa should give the charity money
surely the charity match has a booking contract in place, make them honour the contract or threaten legal action and effectively time bar the game.
Disgusting
Did they know there was a charity game scheduled. If so they r heartless scum and should b held to account. If they didn’t know then who the fxxx is running this mob. All member clubs should vote them out. Any other firm would have sacked you for incompetence. Clear the lot oot they couldnay run a raffle.
SFA COULD AT LEAST MAKE SOME FINANCIAL GESTURE TO SOFTEN THE BLOW – AM SURE THE CELTIC FANS COULD DO A WEE COLLECTION AT THE GAME AND EMBARRASS THE SFA IF THEY DONT – PROBABLY BE MORE THAN SFA WOULD DONATE ANYWAY . COME ON BHOYS SHOW THEM HOW ITS DONE –
The charity should sue the SFA for the lost money.
Typical arrogant SFA SCUMBAGS. Heads should roll for what they have done.
A disgraceful decision. Obviously the SFA are desperate to play the game on an artificial surface as they probably hope this will be some kind of leveller and give EK some kind of outside chance of causing an upset and leave the draw open for sevco.
Can anyone explain to me how do Regan and the like get appointed in the first place ? Is it by a vote from member clubs or is it an appointment in another way ?
Over here in Portugal we have the Portuguese FA or FPF which holds elections every (i believe it is) 4 years .. where even the head of the referees is up for election. Who votes on this are the member clubs and there are usually at least 2 teams up for election.
The league or the LPFP is also appointed every 4 years … and in this case only the clubs from the top 2 divisions (or the professionals if you like) are involved.
Is this the case over there ?
This is shocking I’m a Celtic season ticket holder and I won’t b even trying for a ticket surley charity comes first why could that not have played the game at for park Motherwell surley that would have been better for east kilbride
I’m with scottboy on this. As a club that does so much for charities celtic should object strongly to this disgraceful decision by bunch of amateurs who wouldn’t be allowed to run a raffle in any other profession.
Boycott the match and make a donation to SIMBA…..simples.
To make sure EK get loads of cash why has no one said play at Parkhead. The money involved would be massive for the club and also the players themselves playing at one of the biggest and best grounds in Europe. Anyway getting back to the SFA sack the idiots who have caused all this havoc and caused a charity thousands of pounds..
Scottish Football’s Arseholes.
What do you expect from sevco minded people, sure they could’nt run dead rangers and now sevco legally.
The charity game has been moved to K Park, Home of East Kilbride (Who offered the stadium after hearing this). I know the guy who’s organised this and it seems that the only way he found out about this booking was through social media and sky sports.
Nothing surprises me with sfa anymore ,
that,s the S.F.A for you,s could not run a RAFFLE unless the money was for themselves,s
