Lunatic Sevco Fans Considering Boycotting Every SPL Away Ground

RIOT

Just when you thought Dumb couldn’t get any Dumber, a number of Sevco fan websites are already focussing on the “revenge” their club should take if they manage to get across the line and win the Scottish Championship title.

That looks likely, if not certain.

Instead of celebrating this fact, which is quite an accomplishment for a team just four years old, a lot of their supporters are concentrating on other things, foremost amongst them how best to “punish” SPL clubs for the vote which denied them a place in the SPL.

What they’re proposing is a boycott of every SPL ground.

Except … no, not really.

Their logic is all over the place.

They hold this shocking, long term, grudge against the clubs in the top flight, as though what they did was some kind of unforgivable sin. They forget that the clubs in the lower leagues refused to give them a place in the second tier.

They attended their grounds without complaint; in fact, they boasted openly about the size of the traveling support.

Their grudge doesn’t extend as far as them, so it’s selective at best.

It also doesn’t include cup games, presumably.

Or those against us; no-one realistically thinks their fans would ever boycott Celtic Park.

They’ll not boycott Pittodrie either.

But they are talking about somehow taking out their frustrations on Dundee Utd.

For what reason? Who knows?

Apparently their vote was especially cruel somehow.

Odd that Hibs, who were in the SPL at the time, weren’t considered to have been quite so mendacious with theirs.

Why single out Dundee Utd?

What did they do that was so bad?

Ironically enough – or perhaps not – Dundee Utd look the least likely club to still be in the SPL.

Perhaps that’s why they’re focussing on them.

Because this “threat” – if that’s what they think it is – is as empty as an old crisp packet, blowing in the wind.

Stupidity is bad enough, but even it can have an underlying logic to it.

This is just scattergun stuff, sheer nonsense like a lot these guys do.

Theirs is a strange worldview, one where they can embrace all kinds of contradictions, but this one will be fun for the rest of us to watch unravel. They are coming up to the SPL with delusions of grandeur, pretensions that they might even be able to pull off a miracle and finish in a European spot … but it’ll all come tumbling down.

Theirs is a club built on this kind of lunacy.

That simply can’t be sustained.

They might claim they do what they do because they love “Rangers” but this obsession with the past of a now dead club is as dangerous as Norman Bates’ fixation with what Mother would have wanted. The parallels are pretty striking.

In actual fact, like Norman, and Mother, what drives them on instead is anger and hate, and that’s not a good basis for anything.

This ought to be a time for their fans to take a big breath and start thinking about how life in the top flight is going to be. But the Survival and Victim Myths continue to halt any real hope of forward progress. Boycotts, and talk of them, is just the beginning.

It galls them that they are not coming up to an SPL in a state of wreckage; indeed, some of their fan sites have convinced themselves that they are.

Their delusion knows no bounds at all.

Yet lower league football has, at least partially, allowed these deadly fantasies to flourish. For four years they’ve been the biggest fish in their little pond. Tomorrow night they might gain promotion to a league where there is at least one club which casts a dark shadow over their own, and they aren’t used to that at all.

Based on this display of idiocy and petulance, they aren’t going to handle it well.
