Well, that worked out didn’t it?
The media has spent the last week trying to big up the Sevco central defence, and today there was a particularly rib-tickling piece about Fulham being ready to pay £2 million for the clueless Rob Kiernan. This was doubtless an effort to push up his transfer value, prior to a move in the coming window.
No-one realistically believes anyone was interested in him, and certainly not at that price.
But anyone watching wouldn’t be willing to pay one tenth of that after a howling, shrieking error tonight at Perth, where in a single moment of madness he outdid all the PR work being done on the club’s behalf with a nightmarish (and hilarious) pass-back which allowed McLean all the time in the world to get in between them and put the ball in the net.
Oh this was a howler alright, a moment that must have had Dave King wanting to kick in his telly.
He will now have to write yet another fat cheque to the PR people, who will now have to big up the talents of Tavernier, Holt or perhaps the keeper.
But Kiernan is a busted flush, unless there are scouts in the stand representing Big Billy’s Travelling Circus.
They might think the lad has something.
